Can't assume that Tetrick was going to brush to the lead with American Jewel.

If Palone wouldn't have come Tetrick was !!!!!   They weren't going to let the best horse in the race walk around the track .

Sometimes we get into these insane discussions over drivers when I speak of "top 5".  So for the record, they were missing one completely last night (Brennan) & another, who for some strange reason couldn't drive a live horse all season (Sears), here's the tally:

Tetrick wins 4 despite losing with 2 who "couldn't lose".
Gingras takes 3.
Pierce wins with one that Gary could've driven.
Sears get the ONLY win from off the pace (worse than 3rd in the stretch).

That's 9-12.

Millers each get 1.  Sylvain Filion was the only non-Meadowlands driver to win a race - he had 3 BIG chances.  So the next time someone tries to convince me that Palone or any of the Canadien guys can stay with the "top 5", please save this set of results as a reminder!

Glad to see The Crown going to Pokie next year.

I'll have you know I could drive better than 70% of all drivers today, if I chose to drive horses.

The reason I never accepted the license is due to the fact that the top 10% win 90% of all races. I would fall in to the category of drivers like Don McKirgan, Randy Tharps, Eric Goodell, Corey Callahan, etc. That is not good enough for me.

It has never made sense to me when I could get Ron Pierce, David Miller, Dave Palone, or even driving god Miller to drive a horse for 5%. If they could get only 1/20th of a second more out of a horse than me, they will win a lot of photos I would lose.

In other words, I am smarter than most drivers today.  ;D

Wasn't he just the Grand Circuit leading driver in 2011 and i think in 08 or 09 ?  I guess the top 5 must have called off them years  slaphead

It's all about the driving accounts you pick up and that will never happen with Palone because he doesn't drive on the east coast full time.

Is Palone in my top 3 ? no    but its already been proven he can drive with them.

thumbsup  It should never be held at a place like that. Woodbine handled 4 million last night, and Pocono barely got to 2 mil 2 years ago. The Breeders crown should never be held on any track less than 7/8 or where they have ZERO handle.

You're surprised that the best horses - usually American - were driven by the American regulars? I guess I missed your point Dolfan. I think Filion, Jamieson and youngsters Zeron, McNair could easily drive with the Meds regulars. It's all what you have between the shafts, and the big horses went to the big drivers. Jamieson has proven he's one of the best and can hold his own against anyone. Filion has always been good but it's just more obvious now that's he finally out of Quebec. He would have had the drive (and win) on Intimidate but stuck with the the trainer that stayed with him all year and drove Prestigidator.

Did you watch Zeron win the Jug? Or Waples win the North American Cup? Anyone can cherry pick results on one card.

For the record great Canadian drivers in the history of the sport include - John Campbell, Joe O'Brien, Billy O'Donnell, Mike Lachance, Wally Hennessy, Herve Filion and many more. Yannick is Canadian as well. I'll put that bunch up against anyone... Canadians have dominated the Meadowlands since it opened.

It's no secret that I think Tim Tetrick is tops. When he started outdriving me when he was a young pup I quit and let him drive all of mine. Wish I'd have had enough stock that he was still driving for me. He's my good friend, and I think he'll shatter a bunch of records in his career. Couldn't happen to a better young man.
