The Des Smith Classic, Sunday at Rideau Carleton
« on: July 15, 2012, 07:41:11 PM »
Anyone happen to catch this race? WOW, what a horse race! One of the absolute best stretch drives I've seen in a VERY long time. Foiled Again went an amazing mile and came first over against the best free for all pacer that's been rolling. I watched the slow motion replay and I wasn't able to pick it out... Betterthancheddar edged him out and just missed setting a Canadian and Track record by a fifth of a second. I thought it was a dead heat to be honest.... Fantastic horse race, and one of the few where I didn't mind losing money. Great race... Should never have counted old Foiled Again, the horse is an absolute warrior.

As Brennan said: "I thought I had Foiled Again put away after coming first over around the last turn, but the horse has won 4 million dollars and he's a classy animal, but my horse battled to the end. It was close." (Paraphrased, not word for word).

Sounded like a good one!

Know where we can find a replay?  Can't find one on TwinSpires.   slaphead

Great race!

Dave, had you not mentioned who won, I would've thought that Foiled Again got up.  It was that close!

Our beer is much better than your American swill  rflmao1

After watching the replay multiple times, I still don't see any difference at the wire. I thought it was a dead heat last night and I think its a dead heat today. That photo at the wire (what did you take the picture with a toaster?) all but confirms it IMO. I don't think Foiled Again got by Betterthancheddar... But he damned well finished exactly with him...

Still one of the best stretch drives/races that I've watched in a long time. Both of those horses went huge miles.

Another reason every track should have shutter cam like Los Al

Watching the replay, I thought cheddar won the race looking at the video in the upper right, the other one looked like Foiled if one finished above the other.

 thumbsup

That is the most clear cut picture I've seen.

Would be considered the "finished print"?
