Weather, Panda Air Grounds Breeders Crown
Drivers, Trainers
By Darin Zoccali

Drivers Tim Tetrick, Yannick Gingras, George Brennan
and Dave Miller, trainer-driver Jimmy Takter and trainer
Trond Smedhammer never made it to Woodbine for the
Breeders Crown as severe  fall weather in the New York
metropolitan area grounded a charter flight the group had
scheduled to take them to Toronto.

The weather woes were particu-larly costly to Tetrick, who was scheduled to drive three Breeders Crown winners

They can try and deflect the blame all they want but it is there fault
for not being at Woodbine period.
They had a flight scheduled that would have gotten to Woodbine about an hour before the races begin.Everyone knew bad weather was rolling in with reports by Friday. They left themselves no outs in case anything went wrong and things do go wrong all the time.
On the biggest day purse wise in harness racing not one of these clowns thought about taking no chances and going earlier ?

I'm sorry but I'm NOT buying the weather or Airline screwed them, they screwed themselves.

All in all, I'm not sure the results would have changed much if at all. Luc, Campbell, Palone, and Pierce were very good replacements.

That isn't the point, they should of been smart enough to leave the night before just like Sears and Pierce did

I'm not questioning that. Personally when I trained horses and they raced more than 3-4 hours from home, they arrived a day ahead of time, even for a $3000 race.

As far as the drivers, I understand family time is important. They probably figured the airline knew the weather better than anyone else.

I am not buying the family time part either on this occassion. This was harness racing's biggest night of the year.If family time is that important bring them along to enjoy your biggest day.
I have read posts about Campbell's wife always being in the winner's circle and have seen plenty of pics with his kids also involved.
Sorry still not buying the reason given for not being there.

I was taught early on there is NO excuse for being late short of death or being ion the hospital.

I think no Gingras on Drop the Ball made a difference.
I also think Gregory on some 2 yo who finished 2nd also made a little diiference for the worse though they both finished 2nd

i think momm  possibly may have been hurt by the driver switch. not being critical of palone,he's a great driver, but as he was saying in his pre race interview, that horse was very tricky to drive.
