I blame Amy Hollar. I don't have a reason... I just like to blame Amy for everything. (I'm just a typical horseman) 8)

Same place as Elmer, unfortunately.

Jack is a great guy (Elmer's replacement), but they have hamstrung him in staffing and hiring, just as they have in every department.

People can be really small.  I always get a stable suite at Balmoral, which is right against the glass on the first floor.  Very few people around unless someone is having a party.    Have had very little stolen over the years.  Several years ago had a bottle of water stolen.  Now I make sure to open it when I get there and take a slug. Of course, the director of security often stops by to say hello or chat.  If there is any problem all I have to do is mention it to one of the employees and the GM will usually show up to discuss and do something about it.   But, if they ever get slots, my suite might become a bank of machines.  Then I'll have to sit at one of them and watch the races between spins. rflmao1 rflmao1 rflmao1  I know many complain about employees at the track, but over the years I have had no problem with them.

Hey Giss,i even told Jack that last night, that i was sure that he was understaffed due to no fault of his own.But from what i could tell by talking to people in the surrounding area last night, this has been a common problem for some time. And if everyone says nothing like i did last week, management knows nothing..

I can attest to Hal's influence @ Balm.(of course he finances the place) He asked security to remove me as a vagrant and they responded immediately.

ps  Now I don't feel so bad about stealing his bottled water.  rflmao1

No argument there. At some point you become what the English call "penny-wise, but pound-foolish."

I sit in the upstairs grandstand area, don't seem to have a problem up there.  Of course its a longer walk if you have to smoke.  The upstairs area by the Doug suite has comfy chairs.

Northfield has to have cameras, you can tell by the maintenance workers because they always know where to stand and take a break without being on camera.

I would guess from time to time someone takes a book thinking that someone left it behind but judging by the way some people leave public restrooms you can tell there are a lot of thieves there.

Seems like the logical way to handle that would be to apologize, walk you down to the program stand and get you a complimentary DRF.  And before you walk away - give you a voucher for a free pop or something for all your trouble.  Total cost to NFLD.... maybe $2,  benefit to NFLD....priceless.

More than $2, but otherwise spot on.

Having been a County Fair Pres., PR was VERY important to me. I always went out of my way to pamper the customer.(except for the a-holes)  However, you'd have to be careful that every deadbeat doesn't come up and say someone stole their program. The trick is to say no in a very nice way.

It's always a judgement call. Don't want to lose a good customer, and don't need to keep a bad one.

After a couple of calls with  #4 and #5 on the pay scale at Northfield park.I will say that i was offerd a couple of programs.I told them i didn't need their programs,i just need them to know that people are getting their stuff stolen, and that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to look around and see that they have NO security whatsoever. And no one denied it...30+ years of going to the same track and it's obvious to me that they have no clue,or just don't care.........Either way,i may got out this weekend and see if i notice a change,if not,i'll spend about an hour of my time to spot someone stealing something. My guess is,no security,it wont take me long.I'll stop at security, let em know, and guess i'll do what i said i never would do,open up an on-line account.

NORTHFIELD..............Listen up!!!  They seem as of late to want to make people stay away...they have made more enemies in the last 2 weeks that I have heard of.........imagine how many I haven't.  You want this "Racino" to happen?  Treat people like you want them to be there, and that includes horseman.
