Dexter Cup
« on: April 27, 2012, 05:15:18 PM »
The Dexter Cup elimination will be raced tomorrow at Freehold. The Dexter, which has been won by such luminaries as Speedy Scot, Armbro Flight and Nevele Pride, used to be the first of the big five trotting events, with the others being the Hambletonion, the Yonkers Futurity, the Kentucky Futurity and the Colonial. Roosevelt shifted the date over the years, holding it in August and even October, but generally in June or July

As the politicians tighten the screws on racing some may have to become more open to half-mile track stakes races.
