One has to wonder at what point Yonkers will pull the plug on the Rooney. Last year Peelers and her two entry mates, Line Officer and Rollwithitharry, finished one, two, and three in front of Avenue Hanover, Arockin Hanover and Vincent Fra. There were four betting interests and win betting only.

This year the Rooney has drawn nine nominees, and while four of the colts, Bolt The Duer, HurriKane King Cole, Pet Rock and Major Bombay are better at this point in their careers than the colts that faced Peelers, you need to attract a pool of more than nine for a $300,000 race. What happens if the connections of three or four of them choose not to enter? Do you convince Cookie

Maybe if they decided that it cost less than 22,000 k to race in the damn race they would get more entrants.  Yonkers stakes payments are absurd and thats the main reason they have these races going with 5 horses sometimes
