Mystery 3-24-2012

These pictures were all from 1943 Hoof Beats.

Superb quality of Billy Andrews and Max,

Max Oettinger died 1929:

Max and Leo Oettinger were big-time owners-breeders-and participants of every nature in the sports early ears.

Ebby Gerry Sr:

Ebby Jr., replied yesterday that this photo was likely taken in 1942 and that while his Dad was stationed at Camp Kelly, Jr. went to school there.
Ebby also said that his Dad was overseas in 1945 (duty) when Titan Hanover won the 1945 Hambletonian.

Frank Ervin, needs no explanation.

DelvinMiller

Del Miller. I've no idea when this photo was taken, however I'm assuming it was years before 1943.
The same issue contained a very bad quality photo of Del (at 19YO-1932) in colors standing in front of a picket fence and he looks younger in this pic.
Somewhere, I've a 1940's photo of Del and Mary Lib's first husband (he and Del were best friends before he died in WW II), and in that photo, Del looks more like the Del we'd all recognize.
