Rep West has been lurking in the background of republican politics for more than a "couple of years" now. Heard him speak, in person, twice.
He is a principled,intelligent individual who could be an effective vp candidate if he could get past the rino caucus at the RNC. They, the progressive,NE republicans, don't seem to like or appreciate him much.

I'm all for West as well EXCEPT he does turn off many moderate women.  Rubio believes in most of the same things but is likely to bring many more Latin votes so just between those 2 Floridians, Rubio would be much more likely to deliver Florida which Romney cannot afford to lose.
