Maywood is closed. Does that mean no live racing or are the doors locked- no simulcasting, no nothing? How about Balmoral, are they closing at the end of the year?

Maywood is still open for simulcasting.

The plan is for Balmoral to stay open and racing til the end of the year - but the bankruptcy court has the final say.

The IRB issues OTB licenses in December.  It will be interesting to see if May/Bal gets theirs.

I hate politicians, too.  Especially ex Governors with ties to the boats

Yes they did.  I don't give a damn about them.  However, I feel terrible for all the folks who lost their jobs or now are forced to work part time due to 6 month a year racing.  The people can stay at Maywood till Nov. 21, but many have no job now.  Hawthorne is not a knight in shining armor.  They basically don't give a damn about harness because they have T-breds .  They take recapture.  The place is basically a dump. In a few years there will be no racing in Illinois, T-bred or harness.
