An above average horse in a below average year.  Only disappointing thing is that I liked the 4 slightly more than the 8 so I didn't hit anything.

I'm more intrigued by Shared Belief's next start then CC's. Would love to see how good Shared Belief can be.

How is that a good point? If you don't run in the Derby you can't race in any triple crown race? Let's change the rules because one sorry ass owner cried because his horse lost. So if 20 horses race in the Derby and only the winner wants to race in the Preakness and Belmont we should just award the triple crown? Give me a break. Horses get hurt, miss training and are late bloomers. We should deny them triple crown races? Please....AP Indy never would have won the Belmont, Bernardini the Preakness and so on.
Amen

Just because there hasn't been a triple crown winner in 36 means that there wasn't a horse worthy of doing it! it will happen again, but it takes a special horse to do that and it hasn't happened

This dude made a total ass on live tv in front of millions and millions of people. We now know who the stable is named for cause this guy is a fricken clown. He took a really cool story and in a what 2 minute interview?, threw it all down the toilet..

Yup ! I really just heard the horses story today and bought into it lock, stock and barrel, but after that post race tantrum he threw I couldn't root for anything he owns. I'm glad they let him have the nasal strip though  shootme

I boxed 6 horses had the 1,2,4,8,9,11 today, watched it at work! Happy to hit the tri, then watched Mr Colburn make a complete ass of himself, could have been a great ambassador for the sport.......but chose to be the opposite!  Just Classless

Racing a horse in the Preakness that suffered a minor injury in the Derby wouldn't be fair to the horse.  I have a feeling there would be a lot of DNF or horses that lose by more than 100 lengths just because the owners would want to get a chance to win at the Belmont. Elimination races can be hard enough to bet in harness racing I can't imagine trying to figure out who is trying to win and who isn't if horses were forced to run the Preakness to do the Belmont.

The thing is this guy made a huge life changing lick with this horse, he hasn't suffered his whole life with cheap broken down rats and then got lucky. I think the horse did great with that DH for 4th but I don't agree that he is the best horse in the world, maybe not even the best 3 y/o in the U.S.  idunno Like Bobby said it takes a very special horse to win all 3 and it will be done again but I think it is quite fitting that the last triple crown winner did it like no other horse before or since him. This guy should of IMO been very thankful for the joy and happiness and the cash that this nice animal has brought into his life, not cry and take his toy home because he lost  noway OK off my soap box now  rflmao1

I tend to side with the owner being pissed crying sour grapes  ;)  I'm  only making a comment.  Standardabreds race 3-4  eliminations  one week and the horses finishing 1-2-3-4 come back next week and race in the final.  others go to consolation. Thorobreds can't come back and race that soon so I understand that.   I think  a horse skips  the Derby or the Preakness should not start in the Belmont. It would prove beyond a doubt a great horse won the triple crown or not.   8)

That is their own fault.  100 years ago Sir Barton even ran a race in between the 3.

I said it before the Derby, I did not like that owner. Ok i understand being upset. If you owned or trained horses, we all get upset, but after a day we get over it. This guy still opens his mouth. Maybe he wants the media kissing his DUMB ASS PARTNERS.

So beans, you have paid for your horse to enter a stake race months in advance. He is at the top of his game and you feel he has a great shot to win. Then you are told that your horse can't race cause he came up with a lung infection for a race 5 weeks earlier and you can't get your money back, How are you going to feel???

That is what you are now saying. These people pay a lot of money for these horses to be nominated to the triple crown, not just the derby BUT ALL 3 RACES! If what you want becomes the norm, then you will have a 3 horse Belmont, yeah that will be fricken exciting. Give me a break....

No A GREAT horse, takes on all comers and wins the triple crown, CC was not that. He was my derby horse and he was lucky so many other contenders got hurt.

Hey he could of skipped the preakness or the derby and had a fresh horse for the belmont also  slaphead

I don't think anyone that sides with him is getting  what makes the triple crown so prestigious.

The guy is classless and has no point, if he'd of won you may have never shut him up  noway

The owners were sitting about 35 feet from me.  They seemed affable enough.  I don't agree with him  about the horses that skip races.  However, that doesn't make him an asshole.  Hell, 90% or more of the world would be assholes if that's the case.
Things got pretty dicey as the big race drew near.  Now, I exchanged some words with some REAL
Assholes!  Also met some real nice folks. One young couple in their early thirties were real nice. The guy asked if his wife could sit into shoulders  to watch the race.  I said sure, as long as she was facing backwards!  Luckily, he thought it was funny!  Hal may be old, but he 's not dead yet!

Well the man apologized and I'll give him a pass, he's only human and we all make mistakes. and more often in the heat of a moment. That's all I have to say about that.

Hey, all a man can do is apologize. If a guy is man enough to admit he screwed up, who am I to pass judgement on him? He's still a dumbass though. dorkusinterruptus
