My son spun out on the way home from soccer last night. He s okay, car not so much. I have a hunch the insurance company will total it. Be careful, take your time, if you have to drive in this crap. And if it's bad, get off the road and have a coffee for 20 minutes. I head to Paul Smith's NY for a program Monday and am gonna leave Saturday and head to'cuse, just in case, drive the rest of the way in Sunday. Hope to get home late Monday night (no snow in the forecast) but if it gets bad, I 'll get a room. No rush, rather get there alive.

no guarantees insurance companies will total a car

I wrecked mine several years ago when a kid ran a red light and t-boned me, my frame was bent in 6 places but the insurance company wanted to buff it out, they happened to insure cars

I kept going up the line until finally getting to a vp and threatened to author a letter to a different one of their regulators every day for two weeks in NY and Washington until they relented and totaled the vehicle

the police report also stated the other driver ran a red light and admitted it at the scene

I hear you. Don't want it totaled...older vehicle with little value, for what he would get he would have issues replacing it.
My wife was in a wreck with my van (not at fault) and I was shocked that they repaired it - over $7500 and it was 6 years old with over 100K miles on it. Was sure they would total it.

I got over $12,000 for my 2000 Toyota Tacoma when we totaled it in 2006. And it only cost 18500 new including tax. Plus it had a tad over 100k miles when it was totaled.

Best vehicle I ever owned in my 57+ years! thumbsup

I-94 finally re-opened earlier today. I've driven that stretch of road many times.  Another arctic blast tonight with high winds and snow.  Stay off it!  One time i was on it at 2AM and it was about ten trucks for every one car.
