in 1948, that $7.50 might be 3 days pay.

      in 1950 both my Dad and Uncle worked for a magazine distributor and in the shipping room.

 They made $40 a week.

My first non-paper route job was in a Dept. store and I made 70 cents an hour circa 1960.  I remember my dad telling  me his first job paid 10 cents an hour.

       prices (either wages or merchandise) did not increase dramatically until the Oil Embargo in the 70s).

 The first big contract for the auto workers was 1968.

 I had a job working in a gas station in 1968 and made 1.40 an hour.
Had a short tenure at Ford Plant in 1969,however don't recall the wages. It was enough that I could get a savings bond ($25.00-18.75) each week and still have decent money.

In '70 & 71 you could still buy a six-eight pack of soda in glass bottles for less than dollar.
 Pretty sure milk and bread was still under a dollar.
