Bruce Wiltsie, age 57, of Oakland Park, FL, and formerly of Crete, IL and Tomah, WI, passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 6, 2012 at his home in Florida. He was born February 2, 1955, to Clinton and Andrea (Jost) Wiltsie in Tomah, Wisconsin. He was raised on the family fruit farm and worked at the farm and fruit stand. Bruce was a 1973 graduate of Tomah High School.
Bruce was a harness horse racer in Chicago, the Quad Cities and St. Louis in the winters. He had his own business where he made and repaired harness race bikes and wheels. Bruce also hauled boats and horses between Chicago, Florida and New York. He was known to be very good with problem horses. Bruce also loved gardening and barbequing.
He is survived by his son, Tarry (Meghann Madigan) Wiltsie of Tomah, WI, grandchildren, Gunnar Wiltsie, Kamryn Wiltsie and Maddy Hammond, his mother, Andrea Wiltsie, girlfriend, Suzie Cooper of Oakland Park, FL, his sister, Connie (Tom) Johnson of Tomah, WI, nieces, Jamie Johnson and Tessa Jagger.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Wiltsie.
Bruce was my second trainer at Balmoral in the early 90s.Didn't matter how stupid the horse was,Bruce could handle it. Funny guy. Had a unique laugh as do I.
Started doing wheels as a side job, then opened his own wheel repair. Good guy. Will be missed.
R.I.P. Bruce

A healthy life style only prolongs your death.

I had a couple of wheels fixed through Siegel's Tack Shop, and Bruce did them before he branched out on his own. He was a good guy and liked to laugh.
