Since our leader is personal friends with all the trainers, drivers and owners at Scioto and will be there Saturday,I expect him to post his winners for the night so we hapless individuals who don't know squat about Ohio racing can cash in!     $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$#

Although Scioto Downs' card of racing for this Saturday (September 12) will be highlighting top Ohio Sire Stakes performers, one of the sport's sharpest older competitors will also garner quite a bit of attention.

Ohio’s best night of racing, Super Night, will be held at Scioto on Saturday. Eight $225,000 Ohio Sire Stakes finals for two and three-year-olds of both sexes and gaits (Races 4 - 11) will anchor the card.

State Treasurer will headline the 10-horse $225,000 Jim Ewart Memorial Pace. The six-year-old son of Real Desire won the Canadian Pacing Derby at Mohawk Racetrack in 1:47.4 last week and is the 7-5 morning line favourite for the Ewart. David Miller is set to drive.



Nine other pacers, including 2015 Gene Riegle Memorial winner Mykindachip (to be driven by Jason Brewer), 2014 Little Brown Jug winner Limelight Beach (Chris Page), 2015 Graduate final winner Doo Wop Hanover (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) and 2015 Prix D’Ete winner All Bets Off (Matt Kakaley) are also set to start.

Other races on tap for the evening include the $100,000 Sam ‘Chip’ Noble III Memorial Trot, the $40,000 Ryder Steck Memorial Pace and a pair of $30,000 Open Paces.

Before the first race even starts, there will be a plethora of activities for fans to enjoy. A driver autograph session will start at 5:30 p.m. down by the winner’s circle and a special Man vs. Horse race, with 1988 Olympic gold medalist Butch Reynolds, will be at 6 p.m. A 50/50 raffle will be held trackside to benefit the Butch Reynolds Care for Kids Foundation (must be 18-plus to purchase and participate in the raffle).

Other happenings at the track include receiving a logoed gift when you buy a live racing program and driver interviews and t-shirt tosses after each winner’s circle presentation.

In the breezeway between the clubhouse and racino a fundraiser will take place all night long for longtime driver Brad Hanners, who was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma and is preparing to begin treatment at The Ohio State University’s James Cancer Hospital.

Saturday evening will cap an exciting 2015 Scioto Downs summer meet, in which 95 days of racing were held for more than $15 million in purses.

I am so excited about this program of racing! BTW, I am not friends with a lot of people in Ohio-I'm only friends with the good people. 

I like a lot of horses tonight.

Race 1: #3 Rockin Finish will jiggy jog, unless Sutton drives horribly

Race 2: Hall of Famer Dave Palone should win this one with #6 EZ Noah

Race 3: Once again, Hall of Famer Palone wins with #5 Wind Of The North. Trifecta 5/1236/1236. Wait at the window to cash it.

Race 4: Aaron Merriman jiggy jogs once again with #6 Kestrel. Beyond that, I would only say to include the #5 Count On Kami on your trifectas. That being said, I will not bet much (if anything) on 2 year-old trotting fillies.

Race 5: I like the 1-3-4-8 box. Big Bad Ashley is my sleeper in here. I think she is really getting good.

Race 6: #5 MJB Got Faith is a man among boys here, but my sleeper is #9 Mickey Moose. He needs a lot of luck though to get there.

Race 7: Watch #6 Trayvon. If he is wearing a hood, don't be shocked if he gets shot down. I like the #1,2,3,5 box

Race 8: #1 Like Old Times should cruise. Trifecta: 1/23/235 Watch for a large man resembling myself in the winners circle.

Race 9: Race of the night. #8 Crosswinds Cupcake is a beast. My sleeper is #2 E Ticket Ride. Just punch 812, 821 trifectas and wait to cash them.

Race 10: I like #5 No Whip Chip to win this one. He is getting better and better and Noble always has them ready for the final.

Race 11: I like #4 Nobles Finesse. He had road trouble the last Sires Stake and is peaking at just the right time.

Race 12: #1 Atta Boy Dan is the best by far. I actually told Mark Weaver three years ago that this horse was a great buy for $80,000 and he refused to buy him. He later bought the horse and now look at how smart old Gary D. was.

Race 13: #6 Valerya. Dan Noble lost his mind last week with this one. If he gets her to the quarter in 26.4, she jogs tonight.

Race 14: I would have left after the 12th race, but I want to see #1 State Treasurer jiggy jog in here. 1/5,10/5,10

Race 15: #10 McClelland off the claim.

Race 16: #3 Gold Rocks off a huge driver change. Trifecta 3/1,6,10/1,6,10

Race 17: Driving god Miller, please report to the winners circle with #9 Bluebird Ideal.


Note: These were all posted before talking to any of my Ohio friends about tonight's car. I will definitely be betting differently than I posted on some of these races, as I watch warm ups and post parades before betting. I also watch the odds board and if I see a horse that has unreasonably high or low odds, I change my bet accordingly.

Everybody does that--you would be a fool not to.  I see we agree on some races.  I depend heavily on betting the good trainers and drivers.    For instance, Brett miller has a 12% win percentage.  That's not high enough for me.  13% is my minimum.  But, if the odds are right I could be swayed.

Race 1  #5 Lookin At a Winner- Palone can shave 2 seconds off this horse easy  #3 Rockin Finish- he'll get a good whippin that's for sure.  #10 Virgil-  will have a chance with a good drive at nice odds

Race 2  #5 EZ Noah- almost looks like a lock

Race 3  #5 Wind of The North-  easy pickens

Race 4  #2  Kerfuffle Cookie- could win again  #6 Kestrel-undefeatedf

Race 5  #6  My Tweed Heart- has to avoid being parked the mile

Race 6  #8 Knathanka-            undefeated

Race 7  #2 Love Tap Hanover- may never be headed  #5 Primo Giovani-undefeated  #9  Frieskie Cruiser- needs best for driver which usually isn't good enough

So David gives up the drive on him in a 685K race last week in Canada to go to Pocono and drive horses that were iffy in their stake races. What an idiot.

I managed to lose less than $40. I was very close to pulling off a winning night. Valerya and Nobles Finesse both finished second and I made a profit on those two race. Like Old Times was my biggest bet of the night and I only ended up making $13 on her race because I bet and missed so many trifectas.

State Treasurer getting beat was not a shock to me. The rail was no bargain last night, nor was the front end.  Ronnie Wrenn was absolutely on fire all night, and that horse really figured to be good. Matt Kakaley told me he like several of his horses, but I did not see him until after the first race when he paid $11.80. He did finish second and paid ok to place on two others.

Driving god Brett Miller told me he was really hoping for checks all night because he had no power. He did very well with what little power he had, making himself a good payday. Also talked to Purple Jesus briefly. When I talk to my friends in the Miller family, it is a good night.

If I was not so tired and cold, I'd have walked out with a small profit. I Was also sort of depressed due to learning that a couple of people from Ohio have stage four cancers that they are fighting.  It was heart warming to see the Brad Hanners benefit. A lot of money was raised for his family and medical expenses. Brad has stage four cancer of the kidneys I believe.

All in all, Stacy Cahill and company put on a very nice night of champions. My highlight was getting into the paddock for several races and talking to all my old friends. Also ran into Jug (Jack) after he hit a race for over a grand. He was very happy. Ran into Amy Hollar who hugged me and put her boob into my hand. 

Cannot wait for the Jug!
