Woodbine's Mandatory Jackpot Hi 5 payout date announced
Thursday, May 08, 2014 - by Greg Gangle, WEG Communications

Toronto, ON --- Woodbine Entertainment Group today announced that the mandatory payout for the Standardbred Jackpot Hi 5 is set for Saturday (May 17), the second-to-last card of the Woodbine meet.

A mandatory Jackpot Hi 5 payout will also be offered on closing night on the Victoria Day Holiday, Monday (May 19).

Harness racing moves to Mohawk for 102 dates, beginning Thursday (May 22).

The Jackpot Hi 5, which currently boasts a carryover of C$503,972, requires horseplayers to select the first five finishers in exact order on the last race of the program.

The Jackpot proviso means that the entire pool pays out only when there is one winning ticket sold that correctly selects the first five finishers in exact order.

Should the Jackpot Hi 5 continue to carryover to May 17 without a winner, a lucrative mandatory payout amount is expected to generate sizable horseplayer interest in the pool.

The wager, which offers a 20 cent minimum and a low takeout of 15 percent, debuted Oct. 17.

The Jackpot Hi 5 is popular among core and new racing fans. This past Monday night, C$59,503 was wagered into the Jackpot Hi 5 pool.

What is the point of the 2nd mandatory payout??? Go for a pool of $100 after the first one is payed out?

I'll play it the 17th when the pool is still worth it

That would seem to be a sound plan.!!  The pool will have a ton bet into with that much cash in the carryover.  I'd like a piece of that pie!!! 8) 8) 8)

Smart move on Woodbines part , have a mandatory payout on Preakness day instead of waiting until Monday. They will get a lot more money played into the pool this way.

Pezz they have to have a 2nd mandatory payout because it's the last day of the meet.
