OT Bad Beat: Fantasy Football Style
« on: December 19, 2013, 11:41:02 AM »
I think I need to share this, mostly as a form of therapy.  slaphead

If you don't like or understand fantasy football stop reading now. If you do you'll understand how I feel.

Week 14: I'm 7-5-1, a half game out of first place. Simple: I need to win and the division leader needs to lose for me to get into playoffs. I won my game easily. The division leader scores 100 in his match. His opponent trails by 21 going into the MNF game with Tony Romo yet to play (vs Bears). Romo scores 22! The division leader loses 101-100, putting me in the playoffs.

If you think that's the bad beat, this guy missing the playoffs by 1 point, keep reading.

I get a text from a league member last Thursday asking me what happened with the league. I look and find that I am no longer in the playoffs. Instead, the team that lost by 1 is now the division winner. WTF!

There was a stat correction made to Calvin Johnson. Stat corrections are not uncommon, but usually have little or no impact on the outcome of games. This one did. CJ had originally been credited with 49 yds receiving (4 points) but a stat correction gave him 52 yds (5 points). CJ in on the team that lost by one point.

The extra point earned changed the 101-100 Loss to a tie at 101.
This changed the guy's record from 8-6 to 8-5-1.
Since we tied at 8-5-1 in our division, the division winner was the team with the best division record.
I was 2-2, he was 3-1.
This put me out of the playoffs.

If you check the box score on Yahoo from the Lions-Eagles game week 14 it still shows CJ with 3 catches for 49 yards. The official NFL site has been updated to 52 yards.

I vowed to keep setting my line-up the last two weeks to see if I would have won. Last week I scored 138. My would-be opponent had only 88. I should be playing for the league title and $800 this weekend but instead I got "stat corrected" out of the playoffs.

Happy Holidays Everyone!!!!!

In my league scores are not official until after the first game of the following week starts.  So, I too have both won and lost on a stat correction .  Get even by winning that Yonkers contest this Saturday.!!

Well look on the bright side(if you can call it that) ,Megatron  4pezz2 should have had about 50 more yards if he would have not dropped 3 passes.   Sorry Tony !!!

That was the blizzard game, they probably just couldn't tell where the hell he was on his catches....tough break Tony, it's worse to think that you won only to have it taken away.
