Do Me Honor Gets Lightning Lane Win At The Meadows
« on: April 01, 2013, 07:36:29 PM »

WASHINGTON, PA, April 1, 2013 — Do Me Honor stalked Tremor Hanover for most of the mile, then blew by her in the Lightning Lane to capture Monday’s $18,000 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

While Tremor Hanover was dealing with the first-over bid of So Easy Baby, Do Me Honor and Aaron Merriman waited patiently in the pocket behind the dueling leaders. Do Me Honor charged home in 28.3 to score in 1:52.4, a nose better than the game Tremor Hanover. So Easy Baby persevered for show.

The 5-year-old daughter of Cheyenne Rei-Do Me Right won for the sixth time this year for owner/trainer Bill Bercury and sent her career bankroll soaring over $300,000.

Dave Palone and Mike Wilder each drove three winners on the 15-race card.

20 minute car ride. Beautiful facility. Scenic backdrop. Located in Washington, Pa. Nobody there betting the races any more but a really nice place to go. Being geared to be a full fledged  casino,  but a highly recommended place to visit for the harness fan while it lasts. Really a nice setting. See it while it lasts

I must agree.....its a Very Nice facility but more about the bells and whistles of the slots than it is about racing.   We were there a couple of times, loads of action at the machines but the racing area was a Dead Zone......for those looking to stay in the area there are some nice hotels virtually next door.   If you go, check out the Delvin Miller statue that I assume is still there at the roadway entrance to the facility.....at least there is something of a historical nature there that is racing related.   God forbid we ever see a statue of a Slot Machine!
