Meadowlands: Dave Little hired as oddsmaker, handicapper

Dave Little joins the team at The Meadowlands.

Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment is pleased to announce the hiring of veteran racing journalist Dave Little as the track’s new morning-line oddsmaker and track handicapper.

Little comes to the Meadowlands with four decades of experience as a racing writer, announcer, and handicapper, most recently working as the racing editor at The New York Daily News.

Little’s main responsibility will be to create the track’s morning-line odds and write the handicapping comments that appear in the racing program and on the Meadowlands website. Little will also appear on the Meadowlands television broadcast and fill in as the on-site host on TVG Network in addition to writing news releases and features for the media relations staff.

"I enjoyed my many years in the newspaper industry, but was looking for a change,” said Little. “To get the chance to work at the Meadowlands, and take on the challenge that comes with morning-line odds making, is something I am looking forward to."

“Adding a talent at the Meadowlands the likes of Dave Little is a huge benefit,” said Meadowlands CEO/GM Jason M. Settlemoir. “Dave has been around harness racing forever and adding his level of expertise will only enhance our already strong racing product.

Little will begin making the morning line and writing the handicapping comments for this weekend’s racing programs.

Live racing takes place Friday and Saturday nights with a 7:15 p.m. post time.

I don't think a supercomputer can sift through that garbage and come up with a credible morning line.

Can't be worse than his predecessors, right?

Let the parade of chalk begin. Little was the king of the $3.00 win horse for the Daily News

I thought that is what most like!   $5 winner causes an orgasm.

I read his comments for this weekend. I thought since  he's been a public handicapper for years, we could expect more.

Really no insight to what he writes - offers nothing more than what's known if you can read a charted line.

While he's a step up from the very vanilla James W., Dave's comments don't have as much bite as what DZ wrote.

Agree or disagree?

Race 8 tonight #7 Sheeza Shark..."New Zealand import could be something but clearly has to provide us with some more data."

Horse had one qualifier against JK Endofanera where he finished 6th with a final time of 154, but a last quarter in 26 flat!!! Made 15/1 ml in a nw 10k last 5 or nw 7500 last 5 draw inside.

Closed from last to win in 152.1 with a 26 flat last quarter. Horse pd $3.20.

Give Dave some time. He is one of the most fiercely opinionated people in the business (a compliment) and may just need a few starts to hit his stride.
As to the King of the $3.00 winner comment, that was clearly uncalled for. King of the $2.80 winner. 1-2 is a Dave Little Overlay!

Not trying to unload on Dave but.......

Last night Race 8 #6 Rockin Robert in the G Notes Final. His first start back at M1 was a nice two move effort, leaving fast in 27.0 and closing in 27.2 to only be a length short at a fair 9/2 price. Now faces mostly the same horses, draws a decent post, gets the same driver. How can he be 20/1 ml? He opened at 3/1 and stayed there until post time. Won easily on the front end.
