Don Harmon got suspended and fined at Northfield Park. The reason?

From the USTA site:

"Mr. Harmon failed to conduct himself in a professional manner prior to race 8 on 2/1/16 when he kicked his horse (#5 Always A Tiger) in the stomach after the horse reared up and dumped him out of the sulky."

In my humble opinion, a good kick to the belly was well deserved after the damned horse dumped the guy out.

"Son, you could be hurt bad when they do that". You have to let em know they can't"  that is what the old timers told me.  I would have been led away in cuffs!

Maybe I'm cynical because when I first worked for Don Irvine Jr. Out of high school, I was given every mean, kicking, biting, striking, nasty s.o.b. in the barn. Had to show them who was boss.

I got out and stayed out of racing because I would be in jail myself, I've seen trainers and grooms whack horses with head poles, smack them in the face with buckets, hit them in the side and ass with a shovel. I let my feeling known and they never replied to me but if they had it wouldn't of been pretty
