Sears and Gural
« on: June 19, 2014, 11:29:51 AM »
Read Sears is now banned from Gural owned tracks. Can only race in stake events. Now overnights or even qualifiers. What did he do to piss Gural off?

I can only guess and this is from talking to Brian 2 years ago but he told Gural he'd drive there full time again when they got the slots and if I took a wild guess I'd say the had some disagreement concerning this. I can't use the exact words that Brian used because this is a family forum  noway saying that I think Gural did the same thing to Brennen when he went full time at Yonkers so who knows ?

I really hope he never gets slots and the place goes under. It'd be nice if some state built a brand new mile track that can become what the Meadowlands used to be. For everyone that says well he's trying to clean up the game by banning trainers, what can they say for him banning drivers? He didn't agree with me? He didn't want to follow my rules on how he should drive? The Meadowlands needs Brian Sears more then Brian Sears needs the Meadowlands.

Makes perfect sense to me. Why would Gural want one of the best drivers in harness racing history to ruin the races at his tracks?

If hes going to ban Sears from overnights at Tioga, Vernon and The Meadowlands, how exactly will this hurt Sears? He doesn't drive in overnights at any of those tracks  idunno

The real issue is that the slot induced tracks offer higher purses and any driver in his right mind (especially one as talented as Sears) will go race where the money is. When that gravy train runs dry some day, then maybe it will be a different story. For me unless he banned from driving in stakes races, then its a non issue.

The Meadowlands has lost a lot of good will.

Including the good will I had towards them.

I'd say there is more to the story than what is being presented right now.

The problem is though that it is Gural's sand box, and he can dictate who he wants to play inside.

Maybe Sears was holding out for his buddy the "Manager," to sign a sweet deal.
