I'm sorry Giss.  I know the work you do is awesome.  But your posts give me the hibbie giddies.

Is this a by-product of captivity, and are there preventative measures you can employ? Having never worked around reptiles I know zilch about them. (or little else about anything, for that matter)

By-product of poor husbandry techniques - being kept multiple to a cage so when fed, both snakes strike, or from rubbing or from being kept too wet and cold.

Update- Just to let everyone know  First, a huge thanks to TonyB147 for his generous donation to the Herps Alive Foundation. We are very close to leasing a building for the rescue and his check will certainly help that mission.
About a dozen of these animals died while in our care..either they were too sick when we got them or they died during treatment.
Also, we have started adopting out many of the animals from this seizure after being granted title to them by the courts. So far we have rehomed 5 lizards and 10 snakes. We currently have a total of 90 animals stiill available, 70 of which are snakes. I know we don't have many reptile keepers here (except maybe Beans and Weenies) but if you know someone thinking of a reptile pet, suggest they adopt. From us.
