Bee A Magician to Start Saturday at Balmoral
The Bee A Magician team has called an audible at the
line of scrimmage. Scrapping its original plan to sit out the
time between the Breeders Crown and the Nov. 30 Moni
Maker at the Meadowlands, trainer Nifty Norman has
decided to race his brilliant filly Saturday at Balmoral in the
American-Nationals.
“Six weeks between the Breeders
Crown and the Moni Maker was too
long,” Norman said. “Rather than
qualify her we thought we would
give her another race. She came
out of the Breeders Crown really well. It seems like she is
getting better.”
With Captaintreacherous having lost Friday at Hoosier
Pak, Bee A Magician may have a leg up on the Horse of the
Year title.
“It probably does affect the Horse of the Year picture,”
Norman said. “I thought (Captaintreacherous) just had an
off night. It happens. I just hope we don’t have an off night.”
Should she win her next two starts Bee A Magician will
finish her year with a 17 for 17 record.
“That would be unbelievable,” Norman said. “We were
talking about that (Sunday) night. I can't think of any other 3
year olds that have been undefeated. You’ve seen some 2
year olds go undefeated, but it’s so hard for a 3-year-old.
And it’s not like she just had a few starts. It’s going to be 17
on the year.”
