It was a payback
Kinda figured, which is why I asked the question. I'm not going to judge or even pretend to know what goes on behind the scenes.
My biggest disappointment is with the judges who took the horse down. If they get conflicting stories from the drivers and there is no indisputable video evidence (like an NFL replay review) they should do nothing IMO.
