Smolin
« on: September 14, 2012, 09:19:04 PM »
Race 12, Friday, Maywood Park. I bet the horse so I watched him pretty close. Smolin hit Lost One with about 4 one handers off the gate to make front, than another 3 up the back side. I don't follow this kid often, is he always this hard on a horse? Cause he was swinging for the fences tonight. Horse won and paid 10 bucks but man...

how do you think i got him to pace in 50?.... horse is lazy when i say lazy i mean wont pick up the bit unless you stay after him the whole mile... RJA drove him last week at maywood and i tried to explain to him hes not the kind of horse you want to drive.. and 1 of the reasons i dont like to drive him anymore but john barnard wanted a wake up call for lost one.... so i did what i had to do to make him go and win... wasnt pretty ... very tiring for myself lol

If that's really Robert Smolin, than thanks for the response. Always like getting an opinion from a guy sitting behind one... I've never found you to be too hard on one, so I was just curious. Thanks for the reply.

I didn't see the race either.  But, I do know Bobby is a stand up guy.  Not many would  come on here and give an explanation .

have seen the horse run many times at Balmoral and he does need to be urged to run his best mile which last year was quite good..just one of a few horses that seem to repond well under those circumstances

I think there's a horse like this in the Hollar barn that is urged the whole mile. I forgot him name but I think one of the owners speaks Canadian ayeeee.

Urged is correct.......because beating like a wicked-red-headed-step-child is frowned upon.  :-X
