General Harness Racing Discussion / Triple Crown in Harness Racing
« on: April 12, 2013, 03:40:30 PM »
More often than not, if you asked someone when the Kentucky Derby is run they immediately say "MAY"   Some even say the "First Saturday in May"
Some may even know that is nicknamed "The Run for the Roses"

If you asked someone when is the Harness Racing Triple Crown;  most answer "Didn't know they had one"  Then you may say that they don't have one....they have two!   Many Harness Racing fans and bettors alike don't even know that the horse their betting on may be either a trotter or a pacer, let alone knowing that EACH gait has it's own TRIPLE CROWN.

I live in Edgemont, PA about 20 miles from Harrahs formerly (Chester Downs) Most people at my gym know there is a Casino there and although there is racing from March to December never even knew there was a RaceTrack.

Last Year after 4 years of racing, I visited a picture framing shop  less than 2 miles from the track to have some harness racing paintings framed.

The clerk new that Brandywine Raceway (30 miles away) closed in 1985 and she missed it.   She went on to ask me if I knew where there is a harness racing track.

And USTA wonders why the sport isn't as popular as the Thoroughbreds.
About 5 years ago, I sent a letter to USTA and asked them to list on a
separate webpage designed only for the TRIPLE CROWN.  List the dates
tracks, and from time to time the contenders, their schedule etc...
Not a big job..  Never even received a reply.

Trying finding the dates on GOOGLE!   Lot of work!

I have seen TVG  choose NOT to broadcast live a $80,000 Stake Race at a harness track and decided to show a delayed tape broadcast when there was about 6 minutes to post time  at a Delta Downs  $8000 claimer.

GO FIGURE!

What are your thoughts?

Pena taking in the &%$#   REALLY????  How about all of the $$$$ that handicappers like you and I lost because of this thief?!  How about the honest trainers that paid high entry fees to enter a race with this clown?!What should he get??   How about "Trainer of the Year"  Give me a break.   One post on this site was about how Pocono Raceway has predetermined winners.  Don't you think that this is just as bad?  Maybe USTA should allow
drugs!  Why not?  Then only the poor horse would suffer!  Do you realize what a horse goes through when injected?  I don't think so.  Take a few minutes to Google it.   Let me guess:  You must be a Lance Armstrong fan,
or cheering for Bernie Maddoff or maybe even Jodi Arias!

Someone mentioned the 7 and 8 hole at Pocono.

It seems these posts are only good in SLOPPY conditions

I think the drainage slants from the outside post to the rail and
the outside post get a better start in the slop

Check out last night  7  8 posts in the four finishers and
                                 4   7 posts

If you think Pocono is bad,  check out the 11th at Buffalo

There is no way anyone could select that Superfecta.
For certain it should have been a 3 out of 4 consolation

.10 = $2900      NO WAY

ALL 4 finishers were LONG

I disagree to a certain degree.  Sure,  there is some stiffing going on for sure but nothing like Yonkers or even worse Harrahs.

My software does about 35% at PcD win an average Payoff of $7.00
Harrahs about 34-35% average Payoff of $4.60

I'ts easy to win but hard to profit at Harrahs.  The Racing Secretary
needs to be replaced.  If races aren't competitive you can't profit no matter
how good you are.  At Harrahs there have been some HUGE payoffs
on horses that should have been sent to the shoe factory.

WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU?

A GREAT Race Caller at a poor track
