General Harness Racing Discussion / Re: Is this some bullshit or what?

Hell, what i want to know is why don't cops, judges, public officals, etc. have to take drug tests?

Depends on the state and the jurisdiction but many do just that. In our little, backwater burg the local cops are subject to random testing twice a month. Also applies to jail employees.

Thoroughbreds / Re: Changes for Keeneland
« on: October 31, 2014, 12:56:23 PM »
will be going tobhe Cup there next year.  Can get advance tickets some time in Feb or March.. Don't care if I have to hunker down $250-300 for a 2 day seat.
I've made a point of going to Keeneland at least once a week during both the Spring and Fall meets since we moved to Central Kentucky in 2001. Been offered access to seats in both the clubhouse and the grandstand. Refused them all. To take in and appreciate Keeneland buy a general admission ticket and move........from the aprons to the many terraces to the paddock. Explore it all if you're a newbie.
It fantastic place.....much more than just "a racetrack".

Tough one Hal. I've seen it a couple of times and it never gets easier to reconcile.

Lexington's NBC affiliate has begun their derby coverage this morning. They will be featuring racing all day up to the actual Kentucky Derby.
Should you really want to hear a group of pre-thirty amateurs trying to fill a nine hour broadcast schedule while knowing absolutely nothing about horses, horse racing, or astute wagering it would be hilarious.

General Harness Racing Discussion / Re: Thank You NFL Network !
« on: March 10, 2014, 12:52:08 PM »
Was hoping you were going to say no more games on NFL network. Can't stand them!

They are less than inspiring !
Can't put my finger on why or how but it just lacks "something".
Or is it their constant ass kissing of the Peckers ??

As the center of Lexington creeps ever closer to the backstretch at the Red Mile it is difficult to see how track owners can keep the place going much longer.
The expansion of Rupp Arena and the ever growing demand for student housing at UK alone will soon make the land that the Red Mile sits upon just too valuable.
Hope I'm wrong. It's been a great ride for the past 46 years !

Still do ! Short walk through the pasture and up to near the top of the ridge and there will soon be many to harvest. Well maybe wishful thinking, have to give them another 6 or 7 months.

It must be pure hell getting old.
Reading all of these thesis and testimonials about keeping the plumbing in working order makes me think that if I ever get to that point I'll call Dr. Glock to the house and let him perscribe a remedy.
Probably have a few years left though since I'm only 78.

General Harness Racing Discussion / Re: NFL The final 2 weeks
« on: December 20, 2013, 11:00:34 AM »
it has been a very strange season for me to watch.plenty of injuries have made some games totally unpredictable.
hopefully the last 2 weeks bring the bears and packers together healthy and playing for the division title.

merry christmas football fans !

go packers !

You may well get your wish. That would be a hell of a game.
The Lions seem to be doing what the Lions do best. They had the division all but locked up and then lose what is it now ? Three or four in a row ?
It would appear that the head coach of the Lions is walking the "deadmans walk"
To paraphrase Mel Brooks "May the Scwartz be with you" (get him the hell out of Deeeetroit!!).

"I pray for the day when there are no more veterans..."

As do we all JS, as do we all.
I saw too many really good kids being "bagged" and sent home. It was a different time, place, and war but I hope no one has to see something like that again. This is why people like Obummer, Holder, and Clinton make me fear for the future of our country.

Well, I only met him once, but he certaibly came across as a down to earth nice guy. Often the public personna and the way a person in the public eye is in real life is not the same.   I know LVGD has told me of some real A holes who played at his table who have a very positive public image.   I wouldn't advise punching him.  I know when I shook hands with him, my hand disappeared .  They must be 2/.1/2 times the size of mine.

Met the man twice. The first time he was a nobody tight end at the U. of Pittsburgh. I told him then I was from La Grange, IL outside of Chicago and he remarked that he would love to play for Halas. Met him again in '90 at his place in Chicago and congratulated him on his success in the league, with the '85 Bears, and with his restaurant. He looked at me with that squint of his and asked "didn't I meet you in Pittsburgh a few years ago?" Many a laugh over that one.
To our Pecker fans on this forum. Mike may be alot of things, mostly fabrications in your own minds, but he has never sunk to the depths of Forrest Gregg and his attempt to injure McMahon with his goon lineman.

I don't have the time or energy to be offended by this. My relationship with God isn't that fragile.

That being said; I would never eat in a joint that played loud headbanger music, regardless.

I hear ya JS but a slice of bacon with a likeness of Mohammad imprinted in it's center would make a bacon-cheeseburger quite tasty.
