Chapter Seven only raced twice in Canada. You need to race three times to be nominated. Market Share made six 2012 starts in Canada.

Good call, I thought it was 2 starts

Guessing only that Toscano's positive DQs him. O'Briens have always been much stricter on that kind of stuff than Dan Patch awards.
2 Canadian starts, a BC win and a 2nd in the MapleLeaf.

I guess....whats your opinon on rebeka bayama over anndrovette?

Pemoline is a class 1 drug......come on now, how can you say she didn't get off easy.  She gets 10 days and a stay on the other as long as she doesn't test positive for it again within 1 year.

In Linda's defense, the vet did write a letter accepting all blame for this.

I give credit to the vet for having a pair of balls to put his license on the line in defense of his innocent client.

 bowdown bowdown

These are the things the average public doesn't know, most of these positives are vet administered.....The trainer takes the blame obviously.

As stupid as this positive is the bigger issue is the hypocrisy of the Racing and Wagering Board.  The golden girl gets a Class 2 positive (as dumb as it is) and she gets 10 days.  Last year those trainers got a class 4 positive and were given 6 months, some were given essentially life!!  The other trainers that receieved these positives with her should be thanking god that her name came up or else they would of got a year for this.

The fact that they allowed her letter to be published should tell you all you need to know about it.  Get a positive, write an apology letter and no one cares?

For the record I think this is the problem with this industry, we give ourselves a bad name.  She gets a positive test for a legal substance because they changed withdrawl times without telling anyone, yet to the general public they see another case of someone "drugging" horses.  Will Gural ban her to? Or she doesn't fit his criteria?

I find it hard to really care about horses I have not seen race in person ... unless following an undefeated horse.  So for the most part I don't care about many of the star horses until they are in the battle of lake erie.

Don't get to many big stars in the race anymore so you probably won't see to many good ones anytime soon

He kind of has no choice but to offer a lengthy series for older horses because he is the reason they have to bring their 3 year olds back at 4.

Why keep hiring the cronies that follow Gural around....Does that make them qualified for these positions?  This isn't Tioga, you need to get some people in this place with actual knowledge of business.  Get someone in who knows X's and O's of business and then hire some advisors who know the game of horse racing.  These guys know neither!  The assistant Director of Racing Operations at a successful T-Bred track wouldn't be interested?  You have to spend money to make money, they'd rather hire these guys for peanuts.

You often hear this phrase used for some horses but was wondering if anyone knew the actual criteria needed to be a world champion?

Oh they're railroading him, no doubt.... But I seriously doubt it's the legal drugs that made Pena's horses unbeatable. The ones that would jump up several classes, sit outside first over and drive away easily... As I mentioned in a previous post, I'd say that he is using something they haven't developed a test for yet. He's a career .190 trainer at a weak weak track. Than he's winning at 35% overnight? Come on...

Your right he's obviously using something other than legal substances that he gave hours out....the reasoning and people calling these positives is what I'm talking about

Not to beat a dead horse, but you told me the other day Amy that harness racing is cleaner than ever. How do you feel about Mr Clean here?

With almost nothing financially going into testing part, it's open season. Clearly they wanted Pena gone, but if you think he's the only one..... Coleman was busted this year as well. Will Burke or Brainard be next? Will everyone's vet records be pulled now? I bet there are some nervous trainers this morning in the New York area.

You do realize all of these medications are legal therapeutic medicines?  I dislike Pena as much as the next guy but this is pretty stupid. Unless they can prove that he masked the tests so he can give these medicines inside the window than they have nothing.  Everyone is a bit confused by calling these positives

Maybe if they decided that it cost less than 22,000 k to race in the damn race they would get more entrants.  Yonkers stakes payments are absurd and thats the main reason they have these races going with 5 horses sometimes
