Jim Ewart, longtime race secretary in Ohio and Illinois has passed away following a long battle with cancer.
Jim and I did not always get along, but he died after regaining my respect. Many years ago he cussed me up and down because Donnie Irvine decided to race Plainsman at Maywood instead of Balmoral. He pointed out that Irvine and I should take that "c********r and shove him up our asses".
When I saw him at the Jug a year or two ago I reminded him that he had said this and also called me a c********r. He laughed and apologized profusely about the situation, we shook hands, and had a drink, solving another old battle the way horsemen have settled battles for many years.
Rest in peace Jim, you rotten old c********r! redrose redrose bowdown

He was race secretary for quite a while at Indiana Downs also... nice guy, never had a problem with him.

Any man who apologizes to old Gary D. sincerely deserves to be forgiven. I certainly have nothing but praise for Jim.
Besides, I get called that several times each night at work...by both my bosses and my customers.
