Title: Best Hot Dogs In America!!!
Post by: careless hal on January 25, 2012, 09:17:18 AM
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/03/best-hot-dog-in-america-g_n_818180.html

I will be feasting there Saturday to celebrate my birthday, my daughter-in-law's and my nephew's.
Will go to Hala Kahiki afterwards for drinks!  I'd rather have a good dog than a prime aged steak.

Sounds delicious!!!!!  I could go for one (or two) right about now!  And early birthday wishes to you and the family!

And for the record...Hot Doug's is not known for their hot dogs, they are known for their sausages...and I highly recommend their bacon sausage, any of their pork sausages (stay away from the chicken sausages), the duck fat fries, and a fountain Cherry Coke!

On a side note...the best fried chicken is at Crisp on Broadway in Chicago.  The "sassy seoul" is out of this world!  They popped up on Yahoo's list of best fried chicken in the USA at the #1 spot last year!  I was in the city yesterday and brought some home.   ;)

Gene & Judes always rates near the top dog joint in the USA. Never ate there, but my ITS buds tell me they are great. I'd love to try them, and the the Italian beef from Petrullo's.(sp?) They always rank high for the best beef, along with Mr Beef.

If you can't find good food in Chicago, you ain't tryin'!

Portillos is the best for beef IMO and that rat bass turd Tonyb sends me pictures of his Gene & Judes

dogs about every other week to torture me. I can never remember going there where the line wasn't

out the door. If you're ever near Maywood you're right down the street from G & J's  and Johnnies beef

which is another great beef sammich.

Portillo's.  The one near me has a huge drive-tru line with 3-4 workers taking orders well before you get to the window at prime times.

Champ, I love fried chicken and will put your place on my list to try.

Nobody and I mean nobody has hotdogs like the hotdogs at New York New York Hotel's employee cafeteria. Nobody...and Pope will surely concur.

Hey Pope, even Dan W. gave me a compliment today. He said "Gary you are doing good today. I think you are finally going to learn this game....sometime before you die."  Funniest thing I ever heard him say.

Of course he was trying to nail me after I nailed him. He was talking about how uncomfortable the new chairs in the aforementioned cafeteria are. Draper said "Yeah, those chairs are sort of small." I blurted out that "ALL chairs are small when Dan sits on them." Left him speechless.

He even accused me of farting today on the game. I told him I would not waste a good fart with my ass pointed away from his face.

Missed that hot dog stand on the last Chicago trip.  If I'd have known...

Portillo's:  You guys have to be kidding.  Terribly overrated.

But hey, I grew up in NY, so i can't relate to what Chicago folks call "good".  I can't touch your pizza - it's quiche!  Now the caramel popcorn at Garretts; pure heaven!  And Hackney's onion straws, wow!  (Although I didn't care for their "famous" burgers.)

Also love Max & Benny's but maybe because that's a NY style deli.  All in all, no problem finding good food but the best stuff is in NY, IMO.  With attitude...  >:(

Love that cardboard... made from the best water anywhere (New Orleans water is 2nd best) - with the grease dripping out when you pick it up... mmmmmmm!

You do pick up NY pizza, it's not inside a pan.

I was as surprised as anyone but their water tasted better than bottled water.  And now I know why Cafe Dumond's coffee is legendary.

I can't really tell a difference, but I really only like drinking water after brushing my teeth.

Don't they put chickory in the coffee? >:(

Not eligible!!! Has to be a place open to the general public!! This means the chile you make in your crockpot doesn't qualify either!!

Sorry boys and girls, only two words when it comes to hot dogs. As Jamie Farr will tell you, Tony Packo's.

Unfortunately, due to a family fight, the whole thing (restaurants and packaged foods) may be going away very soon. get 'em before they are gone.

I feel sorry for you misguided souls.  Jamie Farr doesn't know a hot dog from a kielbasa.
I had one years ago and gaged on it!!!
