Title: Convicted felons and the ones who got away with it in sports
Post by: NIATROSS on January 02, 2012, 03:23:58 PM
In the Case thread someone thought maybe I had no problem with felons in the NFL so I started this thread.
I have a problem with any of those convicted of felonies at an adult age in any sport.
IMO it harms the integrity of any sport especially any sport dependent on wagering by the public.Even those sports in which gambling is supposed to be illegal like the NFL.Does anyone really think the game would be that popular without betting on it ?
NCAA footabll is even worse.Would you watch the IDONTKNOWWHERETHESHITIAMBOWLGAME if you did not have a wager on ?
Thug mentallity in basketball ruined for me also.
I also a problem with when something like the Derrick Rose situation happens.Someone takes his tests for him in college he plays one yr leaves the school gets busted and Calipari and Rose go onto greater riches.
I am by no means an angel I just feel once you are busted you deserve another shot in life. However if it involves the public trust which you broke there should be no second chance.

Michael Vick
Ricky Williams
Cedrick Benson

Even Brett Favre was accused of being a pervert.

They all make make more money than I'll see in 6 lifetimes but that's the American way

I promise you Derrick Rose is not the only college athletes to not take their own test.

We had a kid from Urbana play one entire year of college football and had a 0.00 gpa!

Last night on 60 Minutes they had a story on a kid who took the tests for a fee.He got busted for doing so.he was charging upwards of $2500 a test and ALWAYS scored in the 97% percentile. He admitted to doing it 16 times which means he probably did it at least 100 times.

Book that was wrote right around 2000.  "pros and cons of the NFL"
I think there research said that 40% of the players in the NFL are convicted felons and of the 40%, 75% were repeat felons.  A good read for someone interested in the thug mentality of the NFL.

I was more surprised that 60 minutes had someone under 50 than I was about someone taking tests for others.
