I remember being hungry late at night and getting a Nathans, fry and a coke and it was like $12! I won't mention the name of the casino. At the local White Castle a No 1--4 sliders, small fry and a med. drink is $6.49

They had to be at some point, but the nearest WC was at 111th and State, so I never really bought any on my own till I was maybe 8 or 9 and could ride my bike there. It was several miles from where I lived. I do remember the first McDonalds at 117th and Halsted which I think opened in 1958 or 9. The burgers were 15 cents and fries 19 cents. I never get anything other than the original slider. They can keep the cheese or whatever else they want to put on there to boost the price,

I still like sliders, but better than Mcd's when I was a kid was Burger Chef in Franklin Park or Henry's in Des Plaines.
