Been home since 1230 pm, in agony from an aching back. Sat in the whirlpool, had heating pad with Chinese medicine on my back...finally succumbed to pills. If that doesn't do it soon, going to hit my dear friend Mary Jane. She has never let me down... shootme

Stop with the heating pad. Heat screws me over every time. I'll think on a Sunday night.....this heating pad sure feels nice..........and hate myself on Monday..........my News Years resolution is going to be Pilates............the more I read up on it the more I think it may be my only saving grace.........cripe..........I'm nearly 20 years younger than you and f'ing miserable............and don't tell me to lose weight.........DUH!

Hey Im 20+ pounds lighter than a year ago and my back is worse than it was before I started losing. Yes I was 36 pounds lighter but unfortunately Thanksgiving time I always gain back.
Will be back on my regimen shortly. My problem is bone on bone and not sure Pilates can help that. shootme

Way past that. I need surgery but am putting it off as long as possible. Go to chiropractor every week as it is...

You need some fat between the bone! The thinner I am the more back problems I have. When I was really screwed up several years ago, 6 months of PT did the trick. It was that or surgery. I'd have to be laying in bed staring at the ceiling for 3 months before I'd have back surgery, although many advances have been made.

What's PT?
Every time I read about back surgery it is always as the last measure.

Trigger Point Therapy can be a God send for many people. The doctor sticks a needle into the muscle, and when it hits the target the needle jumps around and you can feel the muscle spasm. There is no medication involved in this procedure so you can have it done as often as you need it. Somehow the needle strips the energy from the area that is giving you trouble. It's good for at least five weeks or so, at which point you can have it done again. This is not acupuncture, and an MD does it. Needles don't get along very well with your lungs. I also do a Pilates routine every morning and this has been very helpful in terms of strengthening my core.

Depending on how someone answers it's either pregnant teacher or potty trained.

I'm glad he didn't say "Kitty" Tamer.

PT is great if you take what they teach you and continue to do it on your own. I learned the best way to use the Bodyblade and the foam roller at PT and I use them every day.

NO HEAT! Heat will make things worse. ICE! Just remind yourself of the image of a baseball pitcher being interviewed after a game with his are wrapped in ICE!
Go to your favorite store and buy a few of those blue gel-type ice packs and keep them in your freezer. Ice every night.
Need that madam ling-ling icon.

I've tried everything- chiropractors, ice, whirlpool, hot sauce, heating pads, Madam Ling Ling. Madam Ling Ling works the best, but her work unfortunately costs $155-$160 per visit.
My favorite combo is ibuprofen mixed with tylenol or tylenol pm. If that doesn't work, pot does work...from what I've been told, anyways.
