I went to work yesterday morning, supposedly for a nice , easy Sunday dealing roulette, carnival games, and hopefully no blackjack.
First 20 minutes, I was assigned to Rapid Roulette. Everything was perfect. Two customers were there but quickly left. The moment they left, here come not only the shift manager, but also the assistant shift manager. They informed me I needed to go to dice immediately because there were several call ins.
I was supposed to only go there for a short time until one of the games closed. Well that short time was all day. Thankfully Pope was there as the supervisor, so my mistakes were very minor.
Anyway dealing dice is not as simple as it looks when you are not proficient in the game....and proficient is one thing I'm not! A couple of times I drew a blank and Pope got me out of a jam.
Turned out to be a very enjoyable experience until one of the guys farted and Pope blamed me. It seems no matter how hard I try, I always get the blame for farting in the pit....

rflmao1 I would love to be at a dice table you are dealing at.

It was really a blast. My screw ups were minor compared to the screw ups I made when Tony and his brother were out here and I dealt to them on this goofy Texas Hold Em game.
I know dice, it's just a tough game to deal when you've only dealt it maybe 20 times in 20 years. It's also hard when you are deaf in one ear, so I always make sure that ear is toward the bosses. If I were over there more often (which I think is about to happen), I'd get much better real fast.
The math is pretty simple for me except when I draw a blank. For example on roulette, you cannot confuse me betting odd amounts because I deal that in my sleep, and that's because I've been doing it most every day for 20 years. Same with blackjack. Now when Dollie walks past me, I get distracted, but that is an entirely different story. 8)
Yesterday I was exhausted when I went to work. That is always when I get thrown on craps. rflmao1 I came home and slept for 4 hours, was awake for 6 more, then slept another 9 hours. :o

I have had that honor! Craps not my fav game. I even had the honor of playing while Pope was working the table, not supervising. At first, I didn't recognize him because he wasn't wearing a suit! rflmao1 rflmao1 rflmao1 Now if Gary was wearing a suit--wouldn't recognize him for sure!!! rflmao1 rflmao1

I don't mind when people fart. My sense of smell, on a scale of 1-10 is about a -5! If I can smell em' they are really deadly!

Hal, Gary was wearing a suit long ago. Matter of fact I got hired at my present employer as dual-rate dealer/floorperson. The guy who hired me died six weeks after I started and he's the only one I ever told I would be happy to be a supervisor.
I've been asked 8 times to put the suit on since then, and every time I said no way. The supervisors have to go through a lot of b.s. that dealers don't have to go through. Meetings, tests, classes, etc. The biggest reason I say no to it is that they will not allow me to be a supervisor the way the job needs to be done.
You cannot simply tell a player to get the f**k out of the casino any longer, and that is how it should be. WHen I was supervising if a player gave you any shit, you tell them they are finished. If they continued, you told them they could just get the f**k out of there now, or go directly to jail...their choice.
Also when I was supervising, you didn't have player cards-you just knew who to comp and who not to comp. Now it's all pencils, paper, and computers. Used to be all the good looking women got free food from me. Now they have to earn it. ::)

Gary was actually pretty decent on the craps table except for a few brainfarts mixed in with Real farts !!!

Dan actually told me I was doing very good and asked me if I wanted more time in dice. I told him, "not really, but I will go there any time you need me."
Went to dicedealer.com to study today and it's been taken down. WTF?

I'll be out in Jan. If you are on dice you can practice. If you overpay me I'll let you know!-----------------later!!

Overpaying is not an issue. Hearing...now that is an issue. Fortunately I am fairly sound mathematically.

My brother and I came back and played the same game later that day. Old man George was dealing. He made you look like Einstein. We were telling HIM how much he should pay us.
He may have overpaid us once on twice. idunno

Now that I've gotten it figured out that the payoffs are ass-backwards, the game makes much more sense to me. It will be gone soon, but at least I no longer continually screw it up.
We were taught to deal the game incorrectly...at least some of us were. >:(

Is it Ultimate Texas Hold Em?

I think so Pezz. All these new games...I never pay attention to what they call them because I know they will be history in the blink of an eye..

I want to see LVGD deal War!

I would like to see LVGD write a book on his experiences as a Las Vegas dealer.
We should all get together and suggest a title for his book.
My suggested title for the book would be
"The trials and tribulations of a Las Vegas dealer."
Any more suggestions?

I'd love to see the person who invented casino war have a heart attack. After he had stopped convulsing...ten minutes or so after, I'd call for help. dorkusinterruptus
