Title: The state of Ohio horse racing
Post by: LVGaryD on January 27, 2014, 08:27:55 AM
Here is a great article written in the Akron Beacon Journal today about the state of harness racing in Ohio. (http://www.ohio.com/news/ohio-s-horse-racing-industry-on-the-rebound-1.462080#.UuZfAOEXX7o.facebook)

It's great to get positive local newspaper coverage for a change!

Good for Ohio Horsemen.  However, I really think all slot money will eventually dry up.  As Gazoo stated in the Harrah's Philadelphia thread, if one part of a business is making money hand over fist and the other part is a loser, why would you continue to support the loser.  I see no end to the lack of revenue coming into to most State's coffers.  Eventually all will see the money being pumped into horse racing and just take the money for themselves.
It might be 3 years, 5 or maybe even 10, but I think it will happen everywhere. All we can do is enjoy it while we can.

That all depends Hal, like JJ said there are other people making money and paying taxes.  They would have to look at the overall effect of cutting money to the horsemen.

In the mind of a living, thinking human. But we are talking politicians here. Steal it now before your opponent can steal it.

They are not long term thinkers.
