Pacing filly I Luv The Nitelife has been shut down for the season -- and possibly longer -- after an injury was discovered that will require surgery.
A "devastated" owner Richard Young told Trot Insider that the three-year-old daughter of Rocknroll Hanover has a fractured right knee and will not race in this weekend's Nadia Lobell at The Meadowlands.
It marks another coincidence in the careers of both I Luv The Nitelife and Young's Put On A Show. Both daughters of Rockroll Hanover that didn't win the Breeders Crown at two but came back to win it at age three. Both set earnings records for a pacing filly. Both finished second in the American National and both concluded their seasons after racing there.
Trained by Chris Ryder for Richard and Joanne Young, I Luv The Nitelife looked sharp in her 1:50.1 qualifier last Thursday night at The Meadowlands. Young told Trot Insider that the injury was discovered Tuesday morning. X-rays of the knee are being sent to surgeons at New Bolton Vet Clinic and no prognosis has been provided as of yet.
Not finishing worse than third this year, I Luv The Nitelife (Rocknroll Hanover - Lisjune) is 13-for-15 on the season and a winner of 17 lifetime races in 25 starts with earnings in excess of $1.94-million -- the most in harness racing history for a pacing filly at the conclusion of her three-year-old campaign.
