Title: Dover Bettor Betting $100 Grand On 2 Year Trotters
Post by: sea biscuit on December 04, 2011, 05:08:57 AM
There is a guy at Dover who has been placing $100 grand bets on 2 year old trotting races with some regularity. So far he has not lost a race. This unusual and abnormal betting pattern is creating some very unusual odds on the other horses in the race because Dover has only about $4000 to $6000 in the win pool on any given day. Here is an example of Nov 26 Race 1

1   Commitment to Win     $194 -1
2   Freedom Queen        $499 -1
3   Ashlee's Sunrise        $499 -1
4   Melody Luv                $458-1
5   Alleigh Girl               $1.05 -1
6   Great Quantity        $344-1

Personally I feel this guy is looking for trouble. Its only a matter of time when one of his 5 cent on the dollar specials makes a break creating humongous odds payout on any other horse that might win.

You are right SB!!  Even if the horse bet on is a super horse in the making, some other horse can go off stride and take him out.  499-1 in a 6 horse field? rflmao1 rflmao1 rflmao1

Another example for Race 4 on Nov 27

1   Windshield        $1.05-1
2   Boss the Hoss        $499-1
3   Left Alone Ranger     $322-1
4   Bold Strike        $165-1
6   This Is It Sam        $499-1

Maybe he is getting good rebates. Who knows(http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g387/secretariat3/scratchchin.gif)

The biggest gasp of the Dover Bomber, as he is affectionately called by the fans, must have been on Nov 12 at Dover when he bet his $100 grand on Check Me Out in the Matron Final and  she broke at the start of the race and was spotted some 24 lengths behind but overcame that deficit and still won the race. The filly who was a close second in that race was 167-1.

He's been at it for a year or so actually and did get beat once.
If Gary will allow a link to another forum, I will post more information.

That was impressive despite the lousy competition.

Giss What were the odds payout on the horse that won in that race?

Hell lose one of those and you have to win the next 20 just to break even. You gotta be nuts to make those bets(http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g387/secretariat3/Nono.gif)

He was 211-1. With the generally short fields, you would 9at this point) still show a profit betting against him.

IF he is getting a 7% rebate and he has cashed 9 of 10, he shows a profit if he has gone $100K each time, which is in some doubt, as you will see,

$1,000,00 wagered (10x$100K). $70K rebate. Cashed for $945K (9x$105K). $15K profit.

Here is the link. If Gary chooses to remove it, I understand.

I am sure Dover is not liking this guy's betting one bit.

Lets say the total win pool is $106,000 and the win takeout is 17%

Takeout=18020

106,000-18020=87980 (Divisble Pool)

The have to dole out $105000 to this guy.

They are in the hole for $17020.

Hope my math is correct.

SB,

Depending on how that 17% is split it may work like this

6% to purses
5% to the state
6% to the track about $6360

instead of being out the whole $17,020 they minus the $6360
then they are out $10660

either way a bad deal they always have the right to refuse the bet

Most simulcast contracts require the originating location to cover the minus pool. Not sure if he is betting on track, but I doubt it.
