Title: On to Running Aces!
Post by: Mr. B on May 25, 2013, 08:21:58 AM
Cal Expo racing done for the season, horses made it to Minnesota this week, hoping the meet goes well, and even better than last year for us.  I think I/we learned a lot about the racing up there last year, and will likely place the horses more aggressively this year to get more wins than last year.  I am hoping to get up there twice this summer for the races, pretty firm on July 25th - 30th, need to find another time to go.  made good on my vow to have more than 2 there this season, and I have 3, so I made it.   rflmao1

On a personal note, broke a rib last week in a bicycle Fall Saturday, glad I was wearing a helmet!  Pain worse than a kidney stone, which I never thought was possible. :-\

2 broken bones in 3 years in California... I thought California promoted healthy living?   idunno

Get well, Mr B and have a great meet. Still not sure what I am doing equine-wise, but the Handicapping Herpetologist will be at Running Aces Sunday, July 14 from 5:30-8:30.

Good luck in the Land of the Sky Blue Waters.  Stay out of those Injun casinos or you may get scalped!

OK, I have two in opening night tonight, Parham in 7th and Wild About Eagle in 9th.  I think the ML is a bit high on both of them, and don't expect more than 3-1 on either.  I like Parham's chances, if he gets around the track OK.  He is the biggest standardbred I have ever owned by a long way.  Doesn't where any boots of any kind on the big track, hope it's the same way on the 5/8ths.  WAE has been racing well all season, though she has the worst racing luck of any horse I have owned.  Always seems to end up going 1st up and getting beat.  Will have to leave from the 7-hole, so it's all about the trip.

Congrats Mr B!  Wild About Eagle $19.40 to win and $130 exacta.  Now I can afford to buy bait for my fishing trip!

Thanks!  What a gift mutual windfall... I couldn't believe the odds!  She did have some good racing luck, and as I posted earlier, she has had some of the worst luck in the past...so hopefully it continues to even out!  :-)  Parham raced very well also, getting beat a neck for the whole enchilada!  Heard after the race that he was really wound up in the paddock due to the new surroundings, and he probably left 1/2 his race there before they started.  I expect him to be better next week!

Yiannoulas Boy is in the 6th race tomorrow, 4th choice on ML, only 5 horse field.  I expect he will race well, but he has been off a while, coming off 2 qualifiers where we really sharpened him up.  Should give a good effort.

Feeling much better Skipper!  Yiannoulas Boy had a nice win last night off the 2 month layoff, so that was awesome.  $8000 purse was real nice too!  We are not used to that type of money at Cal Expo!!! rflmao1.  rflmao1.  rflmao1
