What type of draw makes the race a cinch?
What type of draw makes it most competitive?
-
I don't think there is a cinch in that field. This year it is very competitive!
-
If Doc draws 5 or better he wins for fun. Cashman the shit!

If I was Mark Ford, no way do I blast from the 8 hole even though I just overpaid for a horse because he was running in a rich final, Mark Ford one of the good guys in the sport IMO gets screwed.... If he blasts from the 8 hole he could be looking at a FFA pacer that gets gutted....I would take my chances and try and get in the flow early maybe be 3rd over into a wicked half or something try and salvage a piece of the pie...
-
This will be the first race I watch at Yonkers since we were out in Vegas in Jan. With It being there, so Hard for the outside horses to leave and not get killed in a field like this.
-
Yonkers and 8 posts don't mix well, too much of a disadvantage, and too many horses in there can go in 1.52.
Sit and hope for a rough trip for some of the horses up front. Otherwise the Open's at Yonkers will soon go for nearly $50,000.
It's a long season and there will be many chances to earn some money.

How did he overpay ? he just bought a horse that races in the Open every week .
And if he does get a check in the final , the new connections don't get all of it.

Ill you how he overpaid, the price set had taken into account that he would be running in the final for big money.... Had he been sold after the race would have been "significantly less" by a good chunk imo...

Once again the new connections (Ford) will not get the full purse check of whatever he makes in the final.

So what? No percent of a check is now what he will be receiving now as mark ford said coming into the race that it was the most important race and draw in his career...

You keep saying that he bought the horse because of the Levy final , and I keep trying to tell you that no matter what he makes in the final he's not getting a 100% of the check .yes it would be a nice way to get some of his money back but I'm sure he didn't figure on drawing the 8 hole either .
Have you ever tried buying an open class horse ?
-
He wasn't forced to buy the horse. If the price was too high he could have found other horses to buy.

show me one time where I said they bought the horse because of the levy final? Have you ever bought an open pacer? When you buy a horse that will be running in a rich final in two starts, that's a SIGNIFICANT factor in the price and again I will quote mark ford as saying "this is the most important draw in my life'.

Couple of horses from Canada that are racing in the open - Sing For Me George and Hard To Mach were both priced at $150k and i doubt either can get around a half like Doc . So $160 or $170 isn't a bad price for a horse thats going to be racing for $37k each week , plus the Open always has short fields.
-
exactly I never said they bought the horse because of the final, I said they paid a premium on the horse because he was racing in the final...
-
Let me try:
Gazoo is saying that the sale price of Doc had little to do with the fact that he's racing in the final this week. Why? Even if Doc wins the Final, most of the purse money will go to the previous owners (Burke gang) per the terms of the sale. Doc was sold at a premium over other FFA types because he is super sharp, has shown he can get around a 1/2, and has a huge upside going forward. Selling Doc before the Final allows Burke to get Foiled Again into the race as well.
The above is just my opinion and best guess from reading this thread, but I have met Gazoo and knowing who he is I can assure you he is not guessing as to the specifics of the deal.

Hard To Mach = RAT
Please don't tell me he's switching barns? With no ADW here in IL I have done NO betting since 2/16 and 2/23 when I placed good sized bets (for me) on HTM. I stopped following him after 2/23 only to have him win his next start on 3/2 @ odds of 19/1.
I haven't bet a single race since 2/23 slaphead

Before the accident he looked like he might bring around that price.
But I agree I think he's a rat.

I just gave one of those away... saved money on the deal.(and one less stall to clean)

What a great race! Razzla Dazzle was the best tonight, though Foiled nearly got him at the wire. Matty did a great job driving both Foiled and Annieswesterncard. hitdatsumbitch

what a warrior foiled is. razzle got away with the soft half, that is the only reason he held him off. Foiled was the best horse tonight just didn't get the first place check
-
Great drive by Sears. 2nd quarter breather in 29 won the race
-
Sears definitely won the race. Foiled raced big, thought he was going to get up late. Still going strong at age 9!

I thought the race was made a joke by the fact Foiled Again was let into the 3 hole and then picked for the whole mile... Without the entry mate Foiled probably finishes up the track Razzle Dazzle would have sawed him off....but im sure you guys will say that's ok for him to do that.... No hole should have been given it made the race a joke even more so when Kakaley was blocking the outer flow... HOWEVER that takes NOTHING away from the champ Foiled Again who raced HUGE no denying that. I have seen him up close and in person and the Pacer is amazing doesn't look like much in the barn but has the heart of secretariat a true champion.
-
An entry is one betting interest. There were two horses acting as one. Matt could have run Sears to the half just as easily and given Foiled Again cover the whole mile. To me it was going to go one way or the other. The way it went hurt neither horse. Entries have given each other holes forever. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Didn't Trond get a big fine or suspension for helping another horse he trained in a big race at M1 ?
Damn memory. shootme

You can't run over another horse or both of the entropy horses come down. rflmao1
