Gotta admit, this is pretty funny - very clear you like A N D Y M !

Those are the top money earning trainers right now, and a driver is only as good as his mounts. Anybody's top five in this thread could easily be revised according to the power they have between the shafts. There are a few instances where a bad drive can cause a loss, but the majority of the time, it's the guy with the horse that is the sharpest that will win, thanks to the trainer. It was an absolute joke to give credit to Brennan when driving Lou Pena's horses. Any one of anybody's top five would have padded their stats.
Looking much further down the list to less talented drivers is a little of bit different story, but as far as the top ten or so are concerned, there is little to choose between them.

My balmoral top 5 for Hal and Mags.
Oosting
Leonard
Roberts
Carpenter

I pretty much agree, but I'd put Rollin Smolin ahead of Carpenter. I don't know if I'd put Carpy on the list at all. Right now there are several who might be No 5, I'm sure one will emerge soon.

Only reason I put Carpmthere is I cashed pretty good in last race Wednesday nite. Ducky T Fra thank you!

I see your point! But he never wins when I bet on his horse. Just rises up and bites me in the ass when I don't.

So what's Brennan supposed to do choose off ? When Brennan won the Big M driving title it wasn't because of Pena , when Brennan finished 2nd behind Sears for 3 years in a row it wasn't because of Pena.
So i guess Tetrick shouldn't get any credit for driving for Toscano or Yannick for Burke ?
-
Please don't put Linda Toscano in same breath as Burke or Pena.

She did have a pretty good year

Every trainer that wins a lot is a cheater, except for Linda. When she gets a positive, she can just write an apology letter and all is forgiven.
-
I think it is a given that almost all trainers that use Vets, and legal drugs will get in trouble for too close to the race and too large a dose. I don't consider all those to be cheaters. Most of it falls under the sh#t happens category .

Give Brennan credit where credit is due. All he did with most of Pena's horses is point them and go. I think Marty Adler would have won the driving title with those mounts.
Parity has become rare in racing, with a precious few stables winning disproportionately. There's almost always one odds-on, standout horse in any given race at almost every track. With the advent of professional catch-drivers, the game is now almost all about the trainers.
As far as the rest of the drivers are concerned; as I said, there is little to choose between Gingras, Tetrick and Sears. Speaking of Sears, all those years when he finished second to Palone, did that mean that Palone was far superior to him? Maybe you do, but in my opinion that's not the case at all.

He went with Brennan for a reason.

Did Bob Belcher make Walter Case look good too? Bob Belcher's horses did not race the same for anyone else as they did for Walter Case.
What people fail to conceptualize is that getting the best driver wins a whole lot of races, simply because the best driver does not get parked, boxed in, run down to the half, etc. The best driver gets what he wants in most races...because they simply do not want to screw with the big dog.

Having the best driver means you can't get beat by the best driver.

Discussing this any further is futile 4pezz2...Let me just say that every one of the top ten drivers are human and make occasional mistakes, but they all know what they need to do when they have the best horse...stay out of trouble.
Sometimes a driver gets along a little better with a horse than another...Sometimes a driver can win a race with a superior steer when things are equal. But in most occasions (90%), that is just not the case. Top drivers get parked and their charge still goes right through the wire at the finish line. They get run down to the half and still have another move in them. They get boxed in and go up the lightning lane to win with a .26 final quarter.
Even Walter Case a.k.a. "God" did not look very good when he took on the best and had no stock.

3. Whoever drives for Mark Ford
Mark Ford? Is that you Donk? rflmao1 rflmao1
Mark Ford wins 10% less then all the other guys listed.

Or have a groom say they were pissing morphine in stalls.

in this day and age this is possible. a bit overused maybe but very possible.

I think it's already been proven that was the case , but im sure your gonna try and twist it .
How about the millions of dollars they spend each year going out and looking for good horses to buy ?
-
I've never said anything negative about Burke ever? Why would I try and "twist it"? There was an example given of a trainer using a far fetched excuse given for a positive, I just posted another.
