WASHINGTON, PA, Feb. 11, 2013 — Despite contesting a hot 26.4 opening quarter, Do Me Honor had enough left late to capture Monday’s $18,000 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows — her fourth victory in the last five starts.
Do Me Honor dueled with Tremor Hanover for the early lead, briefly yielding to the pocket before Aaron Merriman had her out and moving again at the quarter. The 5-year-old Cheyenne Rei-Do Me Right mare thwarted the first-over challenge of Red Star Hottie and survived the late rush of Ole Miss, who fell 1/2 length short in finishing second. Ideal Treasure was third in the 1:54.1 mile.
Bill Bercury trains and owns Do Me Honor, who now boasts $268,088 in career earnings. Dave Palone drove five winners and Eric Ledford three on the 16-race card.

Since we brought Do Me Honor home, and gave the reigns to Aaron Merriman, she has started nine times (all in the preferred) and has won 6, been 2nd once, and finished third two times. Aaron and Midge were made for each other. We are blessed to own this midget mare with the giant heart!

Thanks for noticing. I thought that Ledford had gotten enough of a jump on Midge at the head of the stretch but Do MeHonor exploded out of the hole. I sure love that mare.
