Important Update for Illinois Players
Unfortunately the Illinois Racing Board has requested that we stop taking wagers from Illinois residents at this time. Starting Friday, January 18th, Illinois customers will no longer be able to wager through TwinSpires.com until further notice.
Your account will remain active with full access to racing information, live video, race replays, Brisnet handicapping information as well as deposits and withdrawals.
We apologize for the inconvenience as we truly appreciate serving your account wagering needs. We are hopeful that this situation in Illinois will be resolved soon and residents of Illinois, just like residents of other states will be allowed to wager on horse racing.
We will update you when there are more developments with this situation.

It was al a ploy to get the horsemen to give up their percentage in the 10th Riverboat , that we still have not, nor will ever receive in my lifetime.

I've cut my betting by 70% and don't think it will ever get back up there even if the ADW is renewed, Mo Doc n, you are 100% correct.

It is funny how all of us used to go to the OTB all the time, now no shot of going and losing 2.5% on the winnings.

i also have doubts on whether the 2.5% is accurate
i have seen $2.40 payouts on track reduced to $2.20 at otbs
how is that 2.5% of winnings ?
the one thing that used to kill me rflmao1 was how a person sitting in a merrilliville otb would get a slightly larger payout than the folks live on track at balmoral

The other thing that doesn't get talked about much is breakage. 50 years ago (when Gary was a young lad) I could understand the reason for rounding given the lack of technology. But today there is no reason for any breakage at all. If a horse's true win price would be $8.78 then pay $8.78, not $8.60.

There is a very good reason for breakage: exorbitant profit for the track...the tracks that charge for admission, parking, programs, high prices for shitty food....those same tracks.
