3 Americans, 6 Canadians, and 2 Icelanders will be so relieved. It could only be less noticed if NBA fans found out that NASCAR went on strike.

Just because you guys don't know anything about Hockey doesn't mean there isn't a lot of excited fans.

I wasn't dissing hockey or hockey fans. Just having fun. Hell, I've been in harness racing for 50 years... you have to laugh to keep from crying.

As Red Green would say: "Keep your stick on the ice!"

I had $200 seats for the Jan 2 game.  Already got my refund, and will see if I actually buy anymore.
Will watch  on tv.  Nothing like being there though.  Rather go to a few games and get good seats than a lot of games and being in the nosebleed sections.

It's amazing to me how Sports Figures in any sport and their owners deem this to be acceptable and expect the fans to ever come back idunno

The way I see it they were given a gift and will make more than I will ever make in 40 lifetimes , why be soooooooooooooo greedy!!

I haven't been to a pro sports game in over 10 years , I will support none of them
My TV works fine and the bathroom is clean , just sayin' ;D

once a person has been to a live game you are hooked
there is no other sport that matches the non stop action

I actually started watching hockey because of the NHL 99 video game.  Their announcers have the most difficult play by play in all sports.

Some of the best hockey I've ever seen was in Ft. McMurray Alberta in an Alberta Junior league game(s) Spent four long LONG winters up there and fortunately the hockey was very good or we would have gone crazy.

I am so pumped for the season to get underway.

Tross, you are correct, there is no better sport to see live than Hockey. No Matter where you sit, best game in the world.

My son plays hockey and has been on a team since he was 5 years old. I never encouraged him and he did it all on his own. When he started one of his coaches said he was "the worst hockey player" he ever saw and now he's the best on his team (the team isn't very good though).

Earlier this year my son was bullied by a kid and three of his friends, like 3 against one is a fair fight. Monday night that kid will be playing offense against my son's team while my son is on defense. No illegal hits will be tolerated but that kid won't be standing upright with the puck for long in this game in my opinion.

I wish the NHL would post a schedule already so I can buy a game or two to take my son.

We love going to hockey games.

The Rangers won one more Stanley Cup in my lifetime than I thought possible. They should still be a decent team this year, hopefully.

JJ it won't be posted till the players now agree to the deal, which won't happen till Saturday. Once they do the schedule will be released. Some of the opening night game have been leaked on msnbc sports but just the opening night.

Hope your son has that kid lined up, that kid has his head down, and your son clocks him clean.

Years ago I asked the other boy's father to sit the boys down with us and work out their differences but found the father was as difficult for me to deal with as the son was for my son.

I agree with you Pezz. I have never looked forward to any hockey game like I am on Monday evening. I want that kid to know the license plate.

JJ, would be nice if you could post some highlights of the game on You Tube!
I've gone to see some of my nephews play and it's always a good time.  As for me, the days of putting on skates are long gone.   As for bullys, my brother(may he RIP) taught me all I needed to know on how to handle them.

A bully will only whip your ass once if he gets skinned up alot during the ass whipping. Then he'll go looking for someone who won't fight back. Been there, done that. Leave a bully with a lot of scabs to pluck off for a few days and he won't be back.

I didn't mean to step on any toes about hockey. I love seeing it played live, but it doesn't translate well to TV. Totally different animal.

My son got off a couple of good hits but took some too. Had a goal on a perfect deflection from the point into his own net (oops) and an assist.

He never got the hit he was looking for though.

We purchased tickets to the soon to be Brooklyn Islanders (when they host the Rangers it will be a Ranger home game) and the Rangers in March when they went on sale today. I love walking into an opposing arena with a Ranger jersey on.
