Browns coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Tom Heckert are expected to be fired tomorrow after the Browns loss to the Steelers. New owner Jimmy Haslam and his right hand man CEO Joe Banner are expected to officially name Bill Cowher head coach as early as next Friday.
Cowher and Haslam have been close friends since Cowher's head coaching days at Pittsburgh.

And then you woke up. Yeah they both will be fired, but Cowher isn't going there

idunno Got that off a Steelers' site. idunno

Here is a real report for ya
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the decision has already been made to fire Browns coach Pat Shurmur and GM Tom Heckert following Sunday's game against the Steelers.
New owner Jimmy Haslam vowed to make his decision on the fates of Shurmur and Heckert shortly after the season, and it's been widely assumed that both would be fired. It's not yet known if any members of the coaching staff or front office will remain, but a house cleaning is likely in order. The Browns are expected to immediately begin their search for their next general manager, and have been linked to NFL Network's Michael Lombardi and 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble. The Plain Dealer also speculates that Chiefs GM Scott Pioli could be a candidate should he become available.
-
The Plain Dealer probably relies on places like In The Sulky forum for their top news sources. Matter of fact, they will likely see this in the next day or two and report it like they found the Cowher story.

Reid leaves tomorrow.
Hopefully he takes Vick and Desean Jackson with him.
I am hearing it will be the ORegan head coach for the Eagles.
I too would love a Cowher or Gruden type in philly though.

Andy Reid will win a Super Bowl before the Eagles do.

Reid will not be unemployed for long

Bruce Arians will be named as Shurmur's replacement, probabloy by the end of the week.
Big mistake dumping Heckert. If they bring in Lombardi, as rumored, Haslam will lose any good will he has generated.

I believe that Ollie Regan is not interested! rflmao1
Don't be surprised if Nick Saban takes another stab at an NFL Head Coaching job. I think he'll have many offers. Hopefully, he would go to Philly who'd continue their downward spiral & the fans would boo him back to the SEC.
I doubt Cowher or Gruden would go anywhere near Cleveland. Gruden is not interested in Weeden. I thought if he were coming back to coaching it would've been this year, in Indy to get his hands on Andrew Luck. He likes developing young QBs so it's not impossible that he could end up in Philly, IMO.
I wish Andy Reid the best in a place where he is appreciated. I hope Michael Vick goes to Cleveland & they chew him up in the Dog Pound!

Saban will never leave Bama, has everything he ever wanted and found the NFL wasn't for him
he can win every year at Bama where he is looked upon as someone who can walk on water
you cannot win every year in the NFL
even Jimmy Johnson who built a team Switzer could win a Super Bowl with didn't last as the owner didn't realize how truly valuable the coach was
-
Heard the Browns are interested in bringing back Mangini. That would be a good move.

Agree !!
Nick Sabin would be a fool to leave Alabama. He has some of the most knowledgeable, passionate fans in the country in the state unlike the vast majority of proball fans. They love the guy and he can do no wrong in Tuscaloosa. All of that plus he makes around $5million a year. What's not to like?

How about $10 million? And to get his ego stroked some more. I think it's just a matter of time before Scumbag Nick returns. He has to try to prove he is better than EVERYONE! His wife won't be happy but then again, he doesn't give a damn about anyone else.

$!0 mill is even better ;)
I have to disagree about the ego thing though. Couple of years ago the wife and I were sitting in the lounge at the Hyatt Regency in Auburn, Alabama. Don't even remember why we were there but------ I looked up and lo and behold there was Sabin so I made a comment to the wife about playing American Legion Baseball for a Lou Sabin in La Grange, Illinois back in the day before recorded history began. Never thought anymore about it as Sabin walked by and disappeared. Twenty minutes later he came back and stopped at our table saying he had overheard the remark I had made and asked where it was that I had played for Lou. Apparently they were third cousins once removed or some damned thing. To shorten this up, he sat down and we talked for maybe five minutes and he impressed me as just an ordinary but nice guy who cared about his job and the kids who played for him.

Yeah I'm hearing from my sources in Cleveland that Cowher had a very, very poor interview, as did Jon Gruden. Browns didn't want either of the washed up losers.
They took the Polish guy due to Cleveland's huge Polish population, attempting to sell out the season in March. Brilliant financial move.

Should work out well for the Browns. I heard that pierogi and kielbasa will be added to the training table. To perform well you have to eat the right way Kishka will be served for breakfast on game days. Nothing like the taste of pig's blood to get you fired up.

Looks like Norv Turner will be his OC. Don't be surprised if Jauron stays as DC.
Oh, fearless leader, Cowher and "Chuckie" never interviewed. They did talk to "Chuckie's" younger brother.

based on Norv's huge recent success in San Diego this could be as much fun as The Mangenius
-
A man walks into a store & orders 3 lbs. of kielbasa.
The guy behind the counter says "you must be polish".
The polish guy says "I suppose if I walked in here & ordered some beer you would say "you must be German". Or if I walked in here & ordered a bottle of wine you'd say "you must be italian". But since I asked for 3 lbs. of kielbasa you automatically think I'm polish".
The guy behind the counter says "no I thought you were polish because this is a hardware store"!
I'm not sure if the Browns hiring Chudzinski is actually funnier. idunno

any team that hires The Mangenius and can't wait to overpay him after he was fired in NY should realize they need to bring in top talent to handle the serious decisions

Most of the media was not informed of these two interviews. As you know Mr. Gisser, my tentacles stretch far and wide. Mr. Banner and Mr. Haslam really didn't want mainstream media knowing who they were interviewing...but old Gary D. knows.

Norv as an O Cord is a good thing, him as a HEAD COACH, VERY BAD. Some people are not head coaching material but are great Cord. Norv, IMO, Is one of them

Pezz,
I'm not so sure. Look at all the great talent Norv had in Dallas. The offense was beyond deep and had numerous Hall of Famers. The Boys were so good Switzer won a Super Bowl.
What has Norv done since?

JJ,
just because he had talent there doesn't mean he wasn't a good Cord. Before he arrived in Dallas, There offense, with all those hall of fame players was LAST IN THE NFL in yards and points. The next 3 years, Emmitt lead the NFL in rushing, and they were 9th, 4th and 4th in the NFl in offense. Winning the Super bowl the last 2. Guess the guy before him wasn't to smart.
And his one season as O cord in San Fran in 06, the 49ers were in the top 10 in total offense in the league WITH ALEX SMITH AS A QB!!!
Like I said, not a good head coach (failed twice now), but as an O Cord, gets the job done
-

I would take Mangini over Rex Ryan anyday of the week !!! Mangini helped build a team that Ryan took to the AFC Championship 2 years in a row .
Under Mangini the Jets drafted D'Brickashaw Ferguson ,Nick Mangold ,Darrelle Revis ,Vernon Gholston and Dustin Keller
In 4 years Ryan has yet to have a player he drafted make the Pro Bowl slaphead but he did draft Mark Sanchez dorkusinterruptus

I hope the Jets do bring back Sanchez as their starting QB.
With Rex and Sanchez, there's bound to be plenty of entertainment. The team will probably not be very good. I also hope they bring in a Ryan as Defensive Coordinator.

Maybe you're right, we'll see. He hasn't personally impressed me since his Dallas days.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski is targeting Chargers DC John Pagano as his defensive coordinator.
Citing a source, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot confirmed Shefter's report. This move fits the Brown's anticipated shift from a 4-3 to 3-4 base defense. If Pagano does go to Cleveland, he'll likely join former Chargers head coach Norv Turner, who is expected to be named the Browns' offensive coordinator when he returns from his family vacation in Hawaii.
-
It should be noted that since his days as Cowboys OC - and just about any of us could've been OC for Emmitt, Troy, Michael & the best OL possibly ever - Turner was an OC for 3 other teams - the Dolphins, 49ers & Chargers. None of those teams could manage a single playoff appearance with Norv as OC.
The fact that Phillip Rivers has regressed should scare the hell out of hiring Norv Turner, IMO.
Now throw in another SD coach & Cleveland has managed another losing tandem. What makes the Browns think that the SD losers will all of a sudden be winners in Cleveland? hammerhead1
The Dog Pound deserves better than this.

that sounds like the Browns I'm used to
if only they approached a former Pittsburgh coach with an open checkbook (name your own salary and assistants) things could be different
