This would have the potential to be ground breaking but as soon as the drivers get used to common questions they'll either coach each other into the same answers or just figure out the easy explanations themselves.

They'll blame the horse & tell everyone what a bad mistake they made.  I don't think you'll hear "I give tucks & do favors for others, the same guys who do it for me".  dorkusinterruptus

No problem here.  You need to update your DOS computer.

Jerry is a good guy for the job. He is bright articulate and young! Old & Slow has been working hard on this.  I understand that drivers will have the option of asking to come on and explain something if they feel the need.  Should be interesting.

The number #1 question asked :

'' Marcus how come you never pulled your fathers horse, seeing that you were the odds on favorite it seemed like it was a lack of effort on your part''    rflmao1

It's exactly that type of question I would expect to be asked.  It took awhile to find the right person for the job. No softball lobs like "Did you learn a lot from your dad" Or, "Did your uncle ever give you any driving tips" Maybe the question will be phrased a little more diplomatically than yours Gazoo. rflmao1 rflmao1 rflmao1  Jerry knows a lot about the game and is a gung-ho harness enthusiast. Howevr, keep in mind I've been at it for 50 years and I'm still learning, so I'd guess he is too.

Jeremey is the right person for the job!

We are excited about this initiative.  Gamblers deserve an explanation of what happens on the track.  Far too often the folks who bet on racing are ignored or taken for granted.

In Chicago we are appreciative of those who bet us.  I hope this reflects that.

He certainly is the right person, and if anyone can get forthright and honest answers, he's the right guy. His passion and enthusiasm for the game will play an important role.  He'll know what to ask and who to ask. The rest is up to the participants.  I have heard much negative  stuff about this venture. I disagree. This could be very sucessful. Groundbreaking perhaps.  Lets give it a shot before we make any judgements. Either way, the right person will be asking the questions and you can't ask for more than that

This is the best thing harness racing in Chicago has done ever.

2nd best was barring Dan M99 Nance and his dysfunctional brother for life.

I'd hope that the judges would not be exempted from answering some pointed questions but then, it is Chicago.

I would hope the judges would be included too. And that they get the thing in place at the Red Mile before next October. And that they allow old Gary D. to ask a few questions and make some comments.

Driving a race is a lot like chess.(a cat and mouse game) Sometimes you give a guy a hole so you can pull on him and lock him in. The top drivers don't fall for it, but you try everything to beat the competition. Explaining it to the bettors should be a good thing.

At least 7 seconds, because as you know-I lost whatever little filter I had on my mouth seven years ago when I got my brain injury.

Ha!!  I think I could defeat almost any driver in a chess game.   (although it's been  many years since I've played chess.  No one will play me, I'm too good. )

"Sometimes you give a guy a hole "   Don't they do this in prison a lot?

JD did an excelllent job in a night of uneventful racing at Maywood. His questions were on the money and he'll only get better. It would be nice see this idea work out as advertised. Dave McCaffrey gave some excellent answers in describing the concept and what they are striving to so. And he noted that JD was the right guy to get it done.....which indeed he is   thumbsup

I raced against Dave McCaffery's horses for years. Win or lose, he was always a gentleman. He's a class act, and does a good job as IHHA prez. It's an unpaid, thankless job that he works hard at, sometimes at the expense of his own stable. Thanks Dave!
