Title: 2 jersey #5's on the same team

i have been wondering about this all season as i have never seen it done before
the irish have both the qb colson and the linebacker spikes wearing the same jersey #5
how is that possible ?

don't some college teams have more than 100 players ?

You can have the same number as long as one player is on offense and the other is on defense.
