Title: Montrell Teague
Post by: Headpole Dave on November 05, 2012, 04:46:59 PM
Is he the worst driver on the best stock going? I've been watching this kid for years and he just doesn't impress me at all... Thoughts?

I like betting the kid. He gets the best stock to drive, but he still pays good when he wins.

Problem is he doesn't win often.

Montrell got a ton of pub after winning his Pace elimination with Custard. Part of it was due to him being the youngest driver to ever compete in the Pace, part because he

Hes still only a kid and when I goto chester for the big races I usualy include him because he does pay well.

Sometimes I worry about these guys that dont have to pay their dues racing cheap horses at a bad track.

Very nice kid. In 10 years Ill know if he is any good or not.

Also I dont think the stock has been that great the last few years.

Teague hasnt had a very big year in a few.
George not Montrell.

I thnk he is about 20th in earnings this year. Which is great but hes not elite elite.

Some of my friends think its because hes letting Montrell drive the horses.
I dont buy that.

GT gets alot of babies and usually finds a good one or 2. He jsut hasnt been as prolific lately.

He seemed to drop off when they brought in the ban on steroids. I remember he used to have these amazing looking colts and fillies that had muscles on top of their muscles... Just an observation not an accusation. To be fair he's not the only one...

As far as Montrell goes, I can't even trust on him at the Dover/Harrington circuit. He manages to get the Brenda Teague horses beat and she bats .400! I just don't see the learning curve or improvement that you see on young guys like Davis, McNair or Zeron. I think George would be much further along if he had stuck with Corey Callahan.

very nice kid

smart, personable, respectful, he has nothing but class, great kid

I always bet against him though

with equal horses Pierce drives circles around him in my opinion

If the kid was good, I mean better than average, trainers would be using him as a catch driver. He may drive 4 on a card, 3 are his dads and the other may be some junkie.

Good topic could be families of drivers with good numbers and bad numbers.

I know its hard to walk in the footpaths of some of their elders but alot of the younger generation don't seem to have the numbers to back up.

I think Marcus Miller is horrible. Alot of times seems to be in the wrong spot.

Sounds like the old man is trying a little too hard to convince himself that he made a good decision.

Beyond the Matron, this is about next year. One can only assume that the plan is to have Montrell  travel the circuit with
