Alex was a lineman for the Lions. This guy was an absolute riot to listen to when he was on MNF.
I watched an interview with him on the Tom Dempsey 63 yd Field goal. He said,This guy is gonna kick a 63 yd FG???? rflmao1 rflmao1 rflmao1 "So I liked up to the side where I could get a good view of this FG attempt by this guy with a wooden leg. rflmao1 rflmao1 rflmao1
"once I saw the ball in the Air, I wanted to kick the stuffins outta him!! "
In Blazing Saddles he played"MONGO" Who can forget him punching that horse???
Or on MNF saying Raider Otis Sistrunk was from the University of Mars??
Or as Webster's Dad??
Thanks for the laughs Alex... A part of my youth just left with you !!! R.I.P. # 71

" In 1963, Pete Rozelle, the commissioner of the N.F.L., suspended Paul Hornung, the golden boy of the Green Bay Packers, and Lions defensive lineman Alex Karras for gambling on games in the Lindell A.C. Rozelle also ordered Karras to divest himself of his one-third interest in the saloon. Hornung was contrite; Karras was outraged. The scandal was excellent for the Butsicarises

He was at his very best, IMHO, as Webster's dad. I think that show may have been the last tv sitcom that I watched regularly.
MNF lost a huge part of their audience when Alex left the show It's been a huge dropoff from Karras to "I am the best that ever was, or ever will be" Bradshaw !
