No that is the horse I thought he would be at the beginning of the year. 148.4 and Jody never moved a muscle. Could be a god thing for him he was sick earlier, he is going to be a lot fresher than the other 3 year olds who have been banging heads all year.

A lot fresher for what? The Tattersalls Pace and the Bluegrass are the next premium races for three-year old pacing colts. Needy hasn't been staked to them. The Messenger? Not eligible. The Matron? Not eligible. The Progress Pace? Not staked to it. The American-National? No. The Windy City? No.
The only one he's staked to is the BC.
Are those three-legged OSS nags he beat last night his peers, or is it the GC colts. Obviously from what he's shown lately it's the GC colts, so why doesn't Carl get him a passport, pony up some supplemental money, and race Needy against his peers?
Did he just get good last week? Is this a new thing? No, he was a top five colt last year. That being the case, one can only assume that this is the way his connections wanted it to play out.

Sure, winning the BC would be great, but Needy is still lacking a single open stakes win, last year or this. Considering his talent, that's pathetic.

Well considering he has only raced in 2, count em, 2 open stakes race, I'll give him a pass. Wasn't nominated for any last year, and couldn't supplement for the BC. Made his debut this year in the NA cup elims ( that is a normal path right?) Got sick for the meadowlands pace and didn't go. So his only other chance this year will be the BC. So be it. After all the trouble they had with him this year, so what.

You've been knocking this horse all year, why the hatred? It's not like Michael's Power has been racing great competition either. Other than the two wins on the half at the Confed and Jug. Horse is an E Dees Cam, he had issues and Carl got him fixed. Not sure that deserves all your venom.

You've continually blasted the colt, pointing out every flaw he's had. He just won his past three starts, setting a new life mark in each race. Ultra impressive last night, with his record breaking OSS mile. You called him equal to three legged nags and that the connections planned it this way... Smarten up. The horse had soundness issues and has been brought back right. Carl is sharp. He's brought him back, made some quick easier money at home and now the horse is back and rolling. Yes Jody opened his mouth when he shouldn't have... But he does that. Insinuating that Carl would deliberately try to plan out this year for the colt isn't accurate. Carl makes money. Always has. That's where I take issue with your point of view.

Carl staked the colt to what he thought would be enough to leave some in the tank for next year while making more than enough to pay the bills this year. Not fashionable enough for the breeding shed but will make a nice few dollars every year if looked after. He will be agreat addition to the open's next year

I don't always agree with Elgin, but I damn sure can't fault him for being well informed. Not much happens in our sport that he hasn't read about. I know nothing about him, but I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy his company because he is really interested and not just some jag-off posting blather on a website.
