Enterprise Rental just called me. Firestone failed to pick up a 30 cent "licensing fee" on my recent rental that they paid for and Enterprise wanted me to pay it. After a great deal of backk and forth,, I told them to send me a bill, to which the guy said, "well that's just too much trouble, we will waive it." Unreal.
My question to the brain trust, If I WAS billed, should I have A) Paid in pennies B) Paid with a $100 or C)Ignored it and let them keep spending money to mail me statements.

Enterprise has some very strange policies, especially since they took over Alamo and National. Ryan can enlighten you on that.

I told Keith earlier.......we rent from them four or five times a year.....from the exact same spot.........sometimes when I go in, I need a utility bill to prove who I am, sometimes I do not........all our information is right there in the computer. shootme

Any company that gets rid of me, you know can not be a forward thinking company. I would tell them you are completely dissatisfied and tell them you are going to hertz.

That rep from Enterprise was just too smart, figuring it would cost more to mail you the bill than what you owed.
Definitely too smart to work at any of the Chicago tracks.

On the rental car note...I just booked a car from Avis through United for my trip to Vegas. I usually book through United because they get the best volume discount (even better than my previous Fortune 500 employers). The all-in cost for a full size car was $143 for 3 days. Immediately after I book it, while I am still on the United website, I click on Hertz and then click on Avis again and checked prices. I found the exact same rental (full size, Avis) for $100 for the 3 days.
How's that for shady pricing? Either that or there is a glitch in the matrix.
Needless to say, I cancelled my first reservation after booking my second.

Well after you booked their volume discount finally kicked in. That was a good trick.

I often cancel two or three reservations. Up until the day before I leave I keep checking pricing! Often, you get a better price close to the departure date because rental are running below what they expected. But, not always. So, lock in the cheapest rate a month out and keep looking! I often end up with National or Alamo. When I went to Florida recently, ended up with Thrifty and they were great.
Switch from a bigger to a smaller car at the counter and ended up paying $160 for the week. Ended up with a Ford Fusion. Not sure what size that is considered , I think mid-size. By today's standards. I think even what they consider to be a full size car is small!( I have 2 SUVs) I might be Jailed if the anointed one is re-elected!

We wanted a rental for a day trip while we were in New Orleans. The hotel owner said that National treated his customers really well. He called them for me and they ask what kind of car I wanted. I said anything but a Chrysler product.(we've had horrible luck with them)
They send a van down to pick us up and take us back to the rental place. They have ready for me a brand new Chrysler 300 with 11 miles on it. I told them I wanted a non-Chrysler, or take me back to the hotel, I wasn't going walk after that sombitch broke down. So they went to the lot and got me a new, very nice Toyota that we enjoyed driving. When we took it back they gave us a ride back to the hotel. Nice folks all-around. I'd use them again.

There's another name for Dodge owners: Pedestrians. My 2001 F-250, with the Navistar 7.3 liter diesel engine has 370,000 miles on it and runs like new. Also doesn't use a drop of oil between changes. I love it and will drive it until it will no longer move. I've used it like a rented mule since the day I bought it... I think it was made by Timex.

Never had the engine apart, and replaced the clutch and pressure plate (manual trans) at 346,000. Still had wear left on it, but I broke the hub on it when something refused to move. I had a 30ft gooseneck flatbed with 208 bales of hay on it 2 days ago and it walked off with it without a grunt. Avoid the 6.0 liter diesel engine... they have alot of trouble with those. The 7.3 is a workhorse. Mine gets about 17.5 mpg/avg. Way better than my gas one used to get.

Thanks! That is why I have been looking into a used 1999-2002 7.3 liter engine with less than 250,000 miles. I might go into the hay business out here. I can buy hay about 500 miles away for $140-150 ton and sell it here for $350 minimum. Would like that particular truck because I can get 6 tons on it legally and should clear at least $650 a load. Pamela says she can unload at least 18 tons per month, so that would basically get her free hay and make us both a little side income....as long as the truck holds up. It would also allow her to help some poor horse owners who are about to send their horses to the killers or even worse, turn them loose in the desert because they can't afford to pay what looks like $500 per ton this winter.

LOL I bought a new 2006 - 300 and she was a beauty but the trans was junk from day 1 and this is years
after I swore off chrysler and their poor quality, I love the new challengers but noway I don't think I kept
that 300 for 18 months traded it in for a F150.
