Title: When will Northfield see better days ?
Post by: dinkadoo on July 16, 2012, 08:00:41 AM
Great card at Scioto, friends who went said packed joint including the grandstand. Good Horses, Good Money

So when does the racino at Northfield ---- Let me take a step back and say when will they even apply for a license ?

I pulled up Monday card, and Ohio racing came back to the basement.

Any word when they may get going === any plans of a temporary facility ?

Race 2, Non Winner of 600 L4 dirty ass trot, just not appealing.......

Nope, Dink on all your questions........pretty tight lipped out of management..........I don't look for any movement on construction or applying for a license until the legal issues are settled.........could be another year..........Thistle may put in temporary slots, not sure what other tracks are doing..........but it was all or nothing for Mountaineer and Scioto, which is why they forged ahead.

I will kind of be a smart alec and point out there were several naysayers on Ohio ever getting any slot relief............and while the lack of movement in northeast Ohio is disheartening, there is a glimmer of hope to the south which we hope will be spreading soon.  thumbsup

just hoping that things continue move forward rather than stagnant.

Scioto Open
raceway --- moving in right direction, even if that means moving out of Toledo
Lebanon -- nothing
Northfield -- nothing

Seems like a lot of same old same old in about 2 months when Scioto closes

Northfield has had people out marking the parking lot, surveying ans stuff like that, according to a very good source. I don't see Thistle making any investment in their current location. Hurts their casino and may not be profitable to put the machines in for a year, doing all that infratsructure work, and then pulling them. Plus,it  hurts their big show downtown,,

They are probably waiting on Kurt Sugg to refriend Amy Hollar before proceding with slots.

It's all Kurt's fault.

Because there isn't one. There is a new VP of something or another and the track announcer does the PR stuff.

I haven't seen that guy either. I thought he was from Thistledown and was supposed to take Northfield to the same level of popularity Thistledown enjoys.

I will say that if I still had a Back to the Track graphic up on the Wednesday following the event, my a$$ would have been in trouble.
Interested to see how they do Saturday...it will my first time there that I am not working on something else (HHYYF, Breeders Crown) in quite awhile.
